About me: The 19th Annual At the Beach Los Angeles Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Celebration is going down July 3-8, 2007.
The Beach Party Unity Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 7, 2007.
In the summer of 1988, Duane Bremond and a group of friends decided to come together to organize and enjoy a day "At the Beach" on the 4th of July. Every year since, At the Beach (ATB) has grown in participants and in scope. It has become the nation's largest recognized Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride celebration.
Today, ATB is a progressive and socially responsible organization over 20,00 strong.
ATB strives to provide unity celebrations as a networking forum for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders of African descent to increase awareness in areas such as health, civic, and community empowerment.
ATB is a proud member of the International Federation of Black Prides and the Consolidated Association of Prides, Inc. (CAPI).

THE DL CHRONICLES

This award-winning and provocative series tells the stories of men of color who, by consequence and by choice, live sexually duplicitous and secret lifestyles. Narrated by an aspiring journalist authoring a book about “the Down Low,” the anthology series explores the issues of betrayal, denial, sexual discovery, love and loss.
From a highly desired, successful executive to the street corner hustler, from the happily married father of two to the college athlete’s first love, each episode will delve into the different lives and experiences of DL Men of Color across social, cultural and economic boundaries.
The “Down Low” is a slang term sometimes used to refer to African-American men who identify as being straight, but secretly engage in sexual activity with men. They date women, have children and often marry in an effort to appear heterosexual to the public. More than closeted, they do not identify as gay or bisexual and refuse to be associated with the gay or community.
EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
Episode: Wes Overworked and overwhelmed by his domineering wife, tries desperately to suppress his lust for his visiting brother-in-law, Trent. Later that night, while Wes’ wife sleeps, the sexual tension between the two men bubbles over. Struggling to fight off the temptation, Wes ultimately gives in to his growing urges.
Episode: Robert Robert is a closeted talent agent who enjoys a brief flirtation with Austin, a hot health food store manager twenty years his junior. By chance, the two men meet again in a sex chatroom. Robert has never slept with the same man twice, but Austin convinces him to take it slow, and the two men begin dating. Robert falls hard for his new boyfriend, but when the truth is revealed about their relationship, Robert lets his shame get in the way of his budding romance.
Episode: Boo We meet Boo- an ex-convict, a mooch, and a player who lives his life on the DL. His girlfriend is fed up with Boo’s cheating and kicks him to the curb. Boo’s mother tells him it’s time to settle down, but Boo is unfazed and continues having sex with multiple partners, including an unprotected romp with Deron, his brother’s friend. But when shocking news rattles Boo, he is forced to reconsider his reckless life on the DL. Will Boo grow up and take responsibility for his actions?
