The Lab, as part of the greater Montana Free State, started out in 2005 as a place of mystery, where monsters and demi-gods were created in order to take control of Missoula. Epic bike battles and post apocalyptic renderings of Shakespeare were a result of fine tuned freegan living. Now it’s progenitors have taken a different route. The birthplace and death of the Missoula Free School on 3 different occasions, an ever-expanding garden and dumpster amenities to accommodate even the pickiest of traveling musicians and wandering souls. House shows, screen printing, and story telling are all but some of favorite pastimes. We would love to cook you breakfast, trade jokes, and play various forms of tag. We also have a small, and dramatically downsized, collection of books that are free to check out, read, use, and copy.
We’ve had some really amazing bands play here in the past 6 months, including:
Madeline,
The Door Keys,
The ReddMen,
Deffect Deffect,
Gay Beast,
Height,
The Pasties,
400 Blows,
