A collaboration between singer Virginia Maestro, songwriter Risto Mejide, and producers the Pinker Tones, Labuat made their debut in 2009 and nearly topped the Spanish charts.
Born on September 29, 1982, in Linares, Spain, Maestro is the frontwoman and visual presence of the group. She is based in Seville. Mejide and the Pinker Tones, on the other hand, collaborate behind the scenes. Mejide is credited with writing almost the entirety of the group's debut album. The Pinker Tones, a duo from Barcelona with a successful recording career of their own, work with him on the production. In 2009 the group made its full-length album debut with Labuat on Columbia Records. The album peaked at number two on the Spanish albums chart and spawned the hit single "Soy Tu Aire." ~ Jason Birchmeier
