Sounds Like
I'm Up in this Place, like a fucking disgrace
I got Bad Breath, I'm gettin up in ya face
Its the Loveable Tramp Im smelling damp
Woke up this morning with broken glass in the rolls of my pants
I dont remember that dance, though I do it every chance
Don't need a cash advance to get tranced, I'm the Loveable Tramp
You can tell at a glance and the smell of my pants
By my stance and my alcoholic Rants
I'm the Loveable Tramp
I got a cramped, clamped fist in the air
Like I just don't care
I'll sleep here and there got all I need here
Weed, Feed and Beer
And it's a Family Affair
People stare and look down on me on my street scene
See me next week in the best 3 piece you ever seen
I been wearin it 3 weeks, this shit is Unclean
Obscene, No watch but Im Greenwich Mean Time
I sniff the grime off ya violin
With an insatiable grin, like I'm sinnin or somethin
Words slip down my chin and on to the drapes I'm in
And if I'm comatose so's my Next of Kin...
The “Loveable Tramp with the clamped, cramped fist in the air like he just don’t care”, Laneous makes grunty Rudeboy Soul and Croon Punk for the BackBeat Generation. Joined by the 4 piece Family Yah – the Monte Carlos of Brisbane’s assorted creams and the all singing, all dancing, all romancing Bird Fire Choir, Laneous sets stages alight with psychedelic hip hop fires.
Born one minute’s walk from where he now lives, Laneous is set to emerge from his beloved Brisbane with his most extravagant musical offering yet – the Debut Laneous & The Family Yah LP “St. Ill Regal”.
Brisbane’s new home of Underground Soul, Rock and Hip Hop, the independent Bird Fire Records will deliver St. Ill Regal Nationally in August 2009. Recorded with Brissie Buzz Man Peet G @ Psi Fi Studios throughout 2008, the 17 track slammer features a whole flock of extended Family Yah members including MC’s, an 8 piece string section, Nepalese Table Master and others.
From Bouncy Hip Hop Opener and first single “BubbleGum” all the way to Soul Joint “Searing Life”, lyrically Laneous (the Legal Alien) flowers like a tropical ginger, with the quirk of MF Doom and the perk of TV on The Radio. Musically, The Family Yah astounds, making unconventional sounds with conventional instruments – think garage band meets MPC.
Laneous has become somewhat of an icon in Brisbane, playing a staggering number of shows and having recorded, toured and played with countless musical projects. Having dropped out of school at 15 to pursue music, he has proudly never worked a day job and never received a cent from the government – too busy making music to stand in a dole cue. Since forming the Family Yah in 2007, Laneous’ shows have become the stuff of legend. Born at a quaint Tea House in the backstreets of Brisbane’s West End and originally intended as a jam band, the Family Yah’s Monday night residency soon had audiences spilling out of the venue and onto the streets to witness the famed falsetto and magnificent chaos of Lanee.
Now graduated from the tea house, Laneous & The Family Yah are renowned for their high energy and dynamic stage shows. This saw them recently named amongst HipHop’s Hottest in Triple J’s “J Mag” City by City - Oz Hip Hop Special. With one of Brisbane’s hottest rhythm sections and the star studded and uber sexy Bird Fire Choir, they have created a formidable live experience.
Festival appearances include: Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Island Times Festival, West End Carnivale, Kuranda Roots Festival, Valley Fiesta, GreenFest, BrisFest, Bohemian Masquerade Ball, Bigsound and many other club shows and events across the East Coast.
To celebrate the release of St. Ill Regal, Laneous & The Family Yah are taking the extravagant and multi-dimensional Pink Dove Show on the road. This sees them team with sideshow and circus performers, crumpers, breakers, live bands, MC’s and DJ’s a like to present the End of the World Party to End all the World’s Parties. Tour Dates TBA soon… Pink Dove is coming… Bird Fy Aaaargh!!
