Lachrimatory was formed in Curitiba in 1999 in the state of Paraná,Brazil.Its activities begin with Tiago M. Alvarez (guitar) and Jonathan Youssef (bass). In the year 2000,with Ávila Shultz (keyboards,vocal),João Carlos (drums) and Anderson M. de Souza (guitar),the line-up was complete. A year later,some songs like Impure Heart and Beyond the Immensity were a result of the compositions and rehearsals and they´ve been performed up to now as part of the band´s repertoire. In 2001, João leaves the band and Paulo Kolb takes his place. The demo "Sanity to Decrease" was recorded some time after Paulo joined the band. In 2002,Lachrimatory has the opportunity to make its first show at the Doomsday Ceremony Fest V,sharing the stage with bands such as Necrotério (Paraná) and Doomsday Ceremony (Paraná).

"Sanity to Decrease" had five songs. Some of them would be recorded again for the next album.
Around 2003, Lachrimatory invites Maiko Thomé (cello) to some presentations. The result was so astonishing, that Maiko is invited again,but this time, he would become a fixed member. After hard work,the group decides to adapt the songs that had been recorded in "Sanity to Decrease",including Maiko´s compositions in some songs. The result of this effort becomes noticeable in 2003 at the remarkable event for Eternal Sorrow´s album "Legacy". Lachrimatory was the opening band at the event and established its line-up for the next shows. In the same year, Lachrimatory organizes the Doom Metal Fest l, which was the first doom metal festival that took place in Curitiba. Lachrimatory, My Suffering (Paraná) and Eternal Sorrow (Paraná) performed at the festival.

In early 2004,there are some changes which remain until 2005. Anderson (guitar) and Paulo Kolb (drums) leave the band. Lachrimatory did not have a second guitar player for half a year, but Leonardo Carraro was the new drummer.Later that year, Lachrimatory organizes the Doom Metal Fest ll, which had the band Sorrowful Dream (Rio Grande do Sul) in Curitiba for the first time. In September 2004,the guitarrist Alexandre Walter (ex-member of Perpetual Solitude) joins the band completing the line-up that would call attention again at the Thanatos Fest, together with the bands Sarx Thanatos (Paraná) and Avec Tristesse (Rio de Janeiro)

Between 2005 and 2006, Lachrimatory records the demo (cd) "Anamnesic Voices Phenomena" - 2006 which was produced by the band and recorded at Maiko Thomé´s studio Avant-Garde,featuring ?art design? by Tiago M. Alvarez. In 2005, the band has the opportunity to make a show in Santa Catarina,at the seventh River Rock Festival, a yearly event that takes place in Indaial (Santa Catarina) in August and considered to be very important since it was the first show of the band in another state. After a period of several shows in Santa Catarina, Leonardo leaves the band in early 2006 and Douglas was the next drummer setting up the formation that year.



A year and a half later, Lachrimatory releases the album "Anamnesic Voices Phenomena" - 2006 whose show was performed at the eighth River Rock Festival and noticeable for the audience´s attention and support. In this period, Jonathan Youssef, one of the founders of the band,finishes his activities leaving his place for Thiago Valença (bass). With the cd,in 2007, Lachrimatory performs at the Obscure Faith Festival (Santa Maria - Rio Grande do Sul) and that was the band´s first show in that state. New songs like "Lachrimatory" and "Twilight" were introduced.

Still in 2007, a show was made in Curitiba to promote the album "Anamnesic Voices Phenomena". That was the drummer Douglas´last show. Paulo Kolb, who was the drummer for the line-up in 2003 would return for the next presentations. In 2008 Lachrimatory takes part in some events in Santa Catarina like the Bob Rock Festival (Donna Ema) and the Eclipse Doom Festival (Joinville) featuring the new songs "Clarity" and "Seclusion". Such participations were very important in events in Santa Catarina.

In 2009, the band plays again at the eleventh River Rock Festival, presenting new songs in the repertoire. At that time, Thiago Valença had already left the band, succeeded by Wagner Müller. The line-up with Ávila Shultz (vocal and keyboards), Tiago M. Alvarez (guitar), Alexandre Walter (guitar), Maiko Thomé (cello), Paulo Kolb (drums) and Wagner Müller (bass) has remained up to the present.
