Cuban music always inspired me and I've been focus on Afro-Cuban rhythms mainly. Mongo Santamaria, Armando Perazo, Potato Valdes, Raul Rekow, Ralph McDonald, Giovanni Hidalgo, Ponco Sanchez, Ayhan Sicimoglu, Robert Tomkins, Horacio El Hernandez, Sheila E., Elian Elias, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chuco Valdes, Bebo Valdes, Omar Sosa, Miles Davis, Erik Truffaz, Cachaito, Ibrahim Ferrer, Tito Puento, Patricia Barber, Arturo Sandoval, Gato Barbieri, Aydin Esen, Omer Faruk Turkbilek, Celia Cruz, Carlos Santana, Chad Baker, Eddie Palmieri, Cal Tjader, Marcus Miller, Ben Harper, Erik Satie, and my Turkish roots - traditional Turkish rthyms that I grove up by listening...Any human being who wants to grow and expand his/her Self.
I started this journey in 1999 with Ayhan Sicimoglu in Istanbul Turkey, and studied Afro-Cuban rthyms and performed with Las Estrellas in Istanbul under Ayhan Sicimoglu's Afro-Cuban Project. I am still continuing to perform with different musicians in Latin, jazz, rock and funk bands in Dallas since 2004. It was always important for me to be a conga player by applying the fundamentals of Afro-Cuban beats with the right technique and discipline. It has been great pleasure to perform Latin music with people who appreciate the understanding of Latin music and unfortunately Latin music has been ignored many years throughout the music history of US." I will continue to believe in my heart beat. If your heart is beating you are a drummer. Let the drum connect your heart to your hands . Let your hands learn to dance." Growing never ends. Thanks to everybody who inspired me in this joyful path.
