Lacuna was born out of a New Years Resolution. I thought it would make a change to make some resolutions that were actually fun. One of them was to write and record some music to some of my words. This was in January 2006. I joined up with Steve who wrote and played guitar parts for three of my tunes.
After I finished working with Steve I decided I wanted to play a bigger part in what I was doing. So I picked up my cornet from my parents house which I hadn't played for about 7 years, bought a loop station and a glockinspeil and started playing round with loops. All the tracks on my My Space are taken straight from my looper with nothing done to them, and are mostly first takes.
I've played at Cafe Kino, Ashton Court Festival, Spike Island, The Cube, The Croft, The Lansdown and The Lamb Inn, Trowbridge for Sonic Sanctuary. I am keen to play more gigs, so I can improve, and get rid of my knocking knees.
Enough boring stuff, let me know what you think, and if you fancy collaborating on anything.
Having decided to apply to play the blackout tent at Ashton Court, I got talking to a filmaker called Michael
over My Space, hes agreed to make a short film to go with some of my music. Please check out his My Space to see some excellent examples of his work, and the beginings of a short film to go with my music.. really looking forward to seeing the finished result. If we don't get through to Ashton Court I plan to use it at my Album Launch :)
Visuals for Wipe Clean (excuse the dodgy home demo)

Also note the duplication was done by the excellent Matt at Hifi copies, I couldn't reccomend him enough. He's located in Bristol, really fast, good quality/value service click here for info

NLF3 http://www.myspace.com/nlf3 Formed in Paris in 2000, NLF3 create music is cyclical, textured, halfway between movie scores and psychedelic transgression. The band cites influences such as Alice Coltrane, Fela Kuti, This Heat, Can and the early Sonic Youth while mixing a lot of electronics together with a wide variety of instruments : amplified kalimba, electric guitars and bass, drums, percussions, vocals.
SOE'ZA http://www.myspace.com/soeza Soe'za are currently a seven-piece band, hailing from points along the M4 corridor, from Bristol to London. With a somewhat unorthodox line-up of two drum kits, two electric guitars, bass, French horn, Soe'za mix Can-esque grooves, and urgent guitars with two disparate yet complimentary singers in the shape of Ben Owen's clear-voiced declarations and Jenny Robinson's soulful melodies.
BOZZ JATCH http://www.myspace.com/bozzjatch Featuring current and ex members of Soeza, The Wailingest Cats and Zun Zun Egui, Bozz Jatch are an experimental swing trio. Rumbling double bass and intricate drums give way to complex guitar lines and smooth croons. Yielding a unique pop sound that marries diverse influences; from Django Reinhart and Charles Mingus through to the elaborate tapestries of Steve Reich and Tortoise.
Yep. It was me. With hat and bike. Realised you were missing from my heap of Bristol's finest. Last saw you at the Lansdown. Good fun, as usual - MD was great...
The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players with An Axe, Bar Oppo, 22nd September 2008
Decorum presents a last minute tour addition, an intimate performance from The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow players - Monday 22nd of September at Oppo (72 Park Street, Bristol).
The Trachtenburgs are a domestic trio who play quirky indie vaudeville pop songs in the key of unironic good, clean fun with one major catch: all the songs carefully rhyming lyrics come from the vintage slide collections they've found at estate or garage sales that accompany their performances.
