    1. it's true.
    2. so... i'm standing on high street waiting for the bus when i see you off in the distance walking southernly and womanly.  there was  a distance of...eh, about 25 yards and i was in front of you.  nothing was between us.  i mean, absolutely nothing - like you and i were the only people left in a 25-yard-long post-apocalyptic world.   and i'm like: "this is it sean!  this is how you know where you stand with her.  get yourself ready, old man!"

    and you just walked on by like a burt bacharach song. 
    and. i. just. fell. apart.
    right there.
    a million brittle little pieces. 
    an unravelled spool of crystal thread.


    and images of my ancestors flashed through my head and i saw them all calling me into a bright light, chanting in unison, "what's left for you on that side, now?  come."  and i almost did, too.  until i was reminded of the holocaust and the brave people who survived its horror by nothing more than sheer will.   and i thought to myself: "if france and it's government can be okay with the guilt of willingly sending all of their jewish citizens to die in german gas chambers, then i too can survive this pain.  i need to be strong like france, right now."

    and, you know what?
    i dried my eyes.  picked up all of my torn clothes from the sidewalk (did i mention that i sobbed and tore off my clothes out of despair?), and i marched forward.  onward.

    so...
    i mean...
    it's okay to stab me in my heart with the metal shiv of your disconcern, but don't then be all like, "oh, why is your chest red?  i have no idea how that happened." 

    (this is all very long and very true.)
