SKYLLA (or Scylla) was a monstrous sea goddess who haunted the rocks of certain narrow strait opposite the whirlpool daemon Kharybdis.
Ships who sailed too close to her rocks would lose six men to her
ravenous, darting heads. Homer describes Skylla as a creature with
twelve dangling feet, six long necks and grisly heads lined with a
triple row of sharp teeth. Her voice was likened to the yelping of
dogs. This description of Skylla is probably derived from the imagery
of words associated with her name : namely, "hermit-crab" (Greek skyllaros), "dog" and "dog-shark" (skylax), and "to rend" (skyllô). In classical art she was depicted as a fish-tailed sea-goddess with a cluster of canine fore-parts surrounding her waist.
Late classical writers say that she was once a beautiful nymph who was loved by the sea-god Glaukos. She has a jealous rival in the witch Kirke
who used her magics to transform Skylla into a monster. The old poets,
however, imagined Skylla as a creature who was born monstrous.

Candyman
was the son of a wealthy slave so he went to all the best schools.
Candyman's wealthy landowner wanted him to steal his daughter's virginity.
He did just that and Candyman's father wanted revenge. He hired some
people to cut off Candyman's right hand with a rusty blade and no one came
to his aid. There were local beehives near Cabrini Green. They got the
honeycomb and covered Candyman's naked body with the honeycomb. Candyman
was stung thousands of times and died a slow, painful death. His ashes
were scattered all over Cabrini Green. As the legends have it, say "Candyman"
five times with the lights turned off or four times with the lights on and
on the fifth time, turn off the lights and he will appear behind you,
breathing heavily and then cut you up. My friend tried it and three
minutes after she did it, she felt something stinging her ankle... then
her legs... and then her fingers. After ten minutes, the pain was gone.

When by thy scorn, O murd'ress, I am dead,
And that thou thinkst thee free
From all solicitation from me,
Then shall my ghost come to thy bed,
And thee, feign'd vestal, in worse arms shall see :
Then thy sick taper will begin to wink,
And he, whose thou art then, being tired before,
Will, if thou stir, or pinch to wake him, think
Thou call'st for more,
And, in false sleep, will from thee shrink :
And then, poor aspen wretch, neglected thou
Bathed in a cold quicksilver sweat wilt lie,
A verier ghost than I.
What I will say, I will not tell thee now,
Lest that preserve thee ; and since my love is spent,
I'd rather thou shouldst painfully repent,
Than by my threatenings rest still innocent.
The Phelps place was an old, abandoned property with a monstrous,
decrepit Victorian house that was supposed to be haunted. It should
have been a good resting place for the local deer hunters, but they
would not go near it. A few that tried came away before midnight with
tales of ghostly thumping noises, gasps, moans, and a terrible wet
bloodstain that appeared on the floor of the front porch and could not
be wiped away.
Phelps was an Englishman who had purchased land some 20 miles off the
Mendocino coast in the 1880s. He had built a huge, fancy Victorian
house all covered with gingerbread trimmings and surrounded by lovely
gardens. When everything was arranged to his liking, he sent out party
invitations to everyone within messenger range. It was the biggest
social event of the year, with music and dancing and huge amounts of
food. Sawhorse tables were set up with refreshments, and drinks were
set out on the front porch. People came from miles around. The only one
missing was old man McInturf's son-in-law. They had had a terrible
fight that afternoon, and the boy had stalked off in a rage,
threatening to get even with the old man.
Around midnight, the musicians took a recess and old man McInturf went
out on the front porch with some friends. Suddenly there came the
thunder of hooves rushing up the lane. A cloaked figure rode towards
the lantern-lit porch. McInturf put down his drink. "That will be my
son-in-law," he told his friends as he went down the steps. The cloaked
figure stopped his horse just outside the pool of lantern-light. There
was a sharp movement and two loud shots from a gun. Old man McInturf
staggered backwards, shot in the throat and the chest. The cloaked man
wheeled his horse and fled down the lane as friends ran to the
assistance of the old man.
They laid McInturf down on the porch. He was bleeding heavily and they
were afraid to move him much. There was some talk of fetching the
doctor, but everyone knew it was too late. So much blood
