Axe was 18 when she broke into the South African metal scene in 1992.
She was South Africa's first female professional heavy metal vocalist and some say the first in the Southern Hemisphere.
Her prowess was occasionally challenged, but her competition soon realised that she was a formidable vocalist who was nearly impossible to match.
Just before she recorded her first EP, she split from her record company and simply disappeared.
In an interview she noted "A lot of shit happened all at once, and it snowballed endlessly, until I finally found my way again, after many personal battles that I triomphed over."
After a 14 year slumber, Axe is back as "LadyAxe", mostly out of concern for conflicting copyrights to the name. She made her comeback by collaborating with the producers of the UK horror film THE GHOSTS OF CROWLEY HALL, singing the end credit song "The Invitation".
Since the release of the film, LADYAXE has made a name for herself as hard working artist in search of the success she has had to abandon as a teenage star. Old fans, as well as new, are eagerly awaiting her CD, aptly titled "FE-METAL", due for release on Halloween 2008.
