Lady beetles are natural enemies of many insect pests and it has been demonstrated that a single lady beetle may consume as many as 5,000 aphids in its lifetime. Although, they may be beautiful with their white, yellow, pink, orange, or red shells adorned with their signature black spots, in fact, these bright colors are a warning to those who would try and eat her. Ladybugs are distasteful to their enemies. When disturbed, they secrete an odorous, distasteful fluid designed to discourage enemies.
