Ladydoll are an up-and-coming alternative rock band, who are on the verge of releasing their debut album. The Cork-based band are a frequent and popular feature of the Irish underground music scene and have gained a loyal fanbase, both by playing local gigs around Munster and as a result of their performances at a number of music festivals around the country. The four members have also played to audiences in London and Liverpool, in a bid to spread their unique sound.
Ladydoll's music would be most suitably classified under the genre of 'Dark Rock' infused with pop undertones, which are evident in the lyrical and melodic hooks heard across the range of the band's repertoire. Intricate guitar solos and vamp-like piano sequences provide the perfect backdrop to the cleverly-placed and often dark and melancholic lyrical content.
With a debut album, The Knife Thrower and His Wife, due for release in early February 2010, an Irish tour with Subplot Records commencing on December 4th, and an IMVA (Irish Music Video Awards) nomination for 'Best Live Performance', Ladydoll are set to encounter their best year yet.
