Named after the second album of English progrockers Gnidrolog, Lady Lake came to life in 1973 in the town of Deventer, The Netherlands. The music they played ranged from psychedelic rock to progressive rock. This Lady Lake line-up only lasted until 1974. In 1976 former bandmember Fred Rosenkamp (guitar) joined forces with Leendert Korstanje (keyboards), to reform Lady Lake. In October 1977 the band recorded an album, 'NO PICTURES'. That album was to become a lost gem for a substantial amount of music lovers. In 1979 Jan Dubbe (drums) joined the band. Lady Lake played a lot of gigs with other well known Dutch progressive bands like Kayak, Earth & Fire, Solution and Finch. In 1982 the band broke up due to various personal reasons.
In 1991 Rosenkamp, Korstanje and Dubbe reunited as Lady Lake for a local art manifestation. From then on Korstanje took care of all bass parts on keyboards. With the reissue of 'NO PICTURES' on MUSEA RECORDS in 1997, the Lady Lake trio recorded a few new tracks and started appearing on the Dutch stages again, mainly on progressive rock festivals such as ProgFarm and ProgPassion.
In 2005 Lady Lake released a brand new album called 'SUPERCLEANDREAMMACHINE', actually the band’s first genuine studio album since 1977. 'SUPERCLEANDREAMMACHINE' shows the band’s ability to deliver Vintage Prog (one may think of the glorious compatriots of Focus, but also Camel and Gentle Giant at times) without ignoring the musical developments and influences of the last two decades.
The bands latest release ‘UNEARTHED’ features a collection of songs written in the late seventies/early eighties, recorded in live conditions. Most of them were planned for a second - but never released - album.
