Since October 6, 2005 we've been trying to help musician's and artist do what they do best. Enjoying and playing what their soul feels.......
It all started October 6th with Nate Farre and his crooning down home voice. You really can't enough sometime. Nate is the kind of performer that has you locked in the whole time.......
Sassapirilla later that evening gave a us some nice tunes with there unique approach to Rock and Roll. Which I would say is definitely worth listening too. I would say the lead singer's unique voice and singing style adds a lot of the twist to it.......
October 20, 2005 Jessica Ginsberg who just started playing out, made you just wonder with her beautiful melodies. She later told me how nervous she was, which you did not even notice with her performance. It seemed like she had been playing out forever. Look her again at another La Flora Session and tell her to keep playing out.......
Also on October 20, 2005, The Broken String Orchestra blessed us with their presence. This was a three piece consisting 2 guitars and a cello.......
November 3, 2005 TomatoCan, a band from Delaware played some good ol' blues for us. TomatoCan is a duo consisting of Mark Bader (a piano virtuoso who has been playing piano since his toddler years) and 15 year old Pat Kane who has been playing guitar for only 2 years. For only playing for 2 years this kid sounded like he had been playing blues for 15 years.......
Also on November 3, 2005 Matt Sowell performed his instrumental project for us Sans Les Mots. Matt usually performs this project as a trio but this time it was solo. Just him, his guitar, and his drum machine. Look for Sans Les Mots in later La Flora Sessions as well.......
November 17, 2005 was said to be one of the best nights at the La Flora Sessions. First was Inzinzac with their graceful, elegant, jazzy, and classical compostions. Listening to them and drinking some good ol' jo was perfect. You couldn't of ask for more.......
After that Gringo Motel came in with their funky, mexicana, rock tunes. I hope this explains it well. You really have to hear it for yourself. If you weren't there, you should've been there. Don't worry though we'll get them to come out to another La Flora Session.......
December 1, 2005 was another one of those shows you really could not miss. First Birdie Busch played some of her new tunes from her latest release. She also kind of flipped it on you when she pulled out her little Fisher Price record player and started playing some Belafonte. Her performance definitely set the mood for what was about to come.......
What was about to come was......Sassapirilla once again ladies and gentleman. They said they had been working on their tunes and making them tighter than ever before. After playing CBGB's in New York they were definitely ready for the La Flora Sessions again. THIS PERFORMANCE WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I'VE SEEN THEM PLAY. They actually had another show that night at the FIVE SPOT and I most of the folks who attended the La Flora Session also made it out to the FIVE SPOT that night.......
December 15, 2005 was yet another good turn out at the La Flora Sessions.....Geo from Townhall started us out with some unreleased goodness.....Geo said he would have a cd ready soon. So, those of you waiting...I'll do my best to keep you posted..Just ask for details.......After That Bianka and Jeb graced us with some ditties....They still haven't discovered a band name yet..SOon Folks Soon.......To end it all for the evening GoodDust Played some of his goodies...THIS SHOW WAS HIS CD RELEASE SHOW..SO THIS WAS A BIG NIGHT FOR HIM....I have to say it is a must have CD...It you don't have it..I just don't even know what to tell you...GET IT!!!
December 29, 2005 I know I said before that there has been some good shows....THIS ONE MY FRIENDS WAS GOOD!! IT WAS DELIGHTFUL! IT WAS SPLENDID! IT WAS MAGNIFICENT! HOW CAN I EXPLAIN!!! JUST ASK!!!
Diana Prescott was supposed to start the night off for us but, things had to change just a little bit. She ended up not playing. That didn't put a damper in the night though. Scott Mangan graced us with what I want to call a little bit of folk and a little bit of funk. It was like THE ARTIST FORMALLY KNOWN AS PRINCE meets Nick Drake!!! Have you ever heard something like that. THIS KID CAN HIT A HIGH NOTE!
AFTER THAT ZELDAPINWHEEL ROCKED THE HELL OUT OF THE PLACE!!! YOU SOMETHING IS GOOD WHEN PEOPLE ARE COMPLETELY SILET!! THAT HOW IS WAS!!!IF YOU LIKE TORTOISE YOU WILL LIKE ZELDAPINWHEEL...
Hey Zeldadudes I'm sorry if you don't like being compared to Tortoise...I FELT LIKE IT WAS A COMPLIMENT.....
January 12, 2006..>WE started off the new year with some subtle, beautiful, melodic music.....Jamie Harrison started the night off for us with his music that had some inspiration from Nirvana and Elliot Smith...A nice mix...After that Pepi Ginsberg played her soft and I would say somewhat seductive melodies...She has this beautiful haunting, hollow, old sound of a voice...I LOVE IT!!!! To take us home..Sitar Bob suprised us and busted out an ELECTRIC SITAR!!!!! When you think sitar you just don't think it's going to be electric.....Sitar Bob can touch my chakras anytime....WEW!
DOn't miss this weeks show...January 26....2006....DJ Gino Fortebuono is taking us back to the 70s with some old soul, funk, blues, and r&b.......BAMBOOJAZZ is going to ease us into the jazz world....and then Monica McIntyre will be singing her heart out while playing her cello......
SO..I KNOW I'VE BEEN LUNCHING ON THIS PART OF THE PROFILE....FORGIVE ME BUT I HAD A LITTLE COMPUTER MALFUNCTION AND THEN MY COMPUTER DIED....ANYWAYS...TO CATCH UP...I would like to thank some folks for coming out and playing.....Let's go back to a little....MANY THANKS TOO SETRA, THE TIME CHILD, RON FORCZEK, ARON DUNLAP, SITARBOB, GEO, JAMES H, MY LUCKY DIME, BOSCO AND BECK, SEAN WHITTAKER, MARC SILVER, BILWA, MIKRONESIA, GEMINI WOLF, DJO, SEAN KILROY, OLIVIA NEUTRON BOMB, COWMUDDY, HUMA ZELDA PINWHEEL, BETSY SPIVAK, SASSAPIRILLA, AND SABIOS....Here are the bands that have performed in the past...Thank you guys for coming out and supporting the Rocketcat...
