ABOUT LAGAYLIA
This soulful and explosive artist took a giant step in 2001 when she moved from Florida
to Stockholm, Sweden. She took the Swedes by storm and the media embraced her voice,
performance and personality. But LaGaylia was not a spring chicken in her new domicile.
In Florida she was an established club artist with bands such as Bandera with whom she
got a radio hit with the song ”Voodoo”. Later she formed her own R&B band and played various
clubs in and around Fort Lauderdale. She was also a house artist at Coconuts in Fort
Lauderdale.
She was a personal find of the legendary artist manager Eliot Weisman who also managed
familiar names such as Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis Jr. During her years
with Eliot Weisman she was casted in the movie picture „the Specialist“, starring Sylvester
Stallone and Sharon Stone. In this movie she sang two songs of which one was performed live
on the screen. One of the songs, „Shower me with love“ reached a number 2 on Billboard’s
Dance Chart, in a club mix version.
In Sweden she has appeared in most large scaled live and televised events such as The Polar
Music Prize, the official celebration of the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and numerous
Tv shows.
LaGaylia’s debut album „LaGaylia Uncovered“ is released in Sweden on the 24th of January
2007. The album presents eleven tracks of which nine are written by LaGaylia herself or
in collaboration with other songwriters. The single „Smack“ from the album is already
released on radio in Sweden and will be downloadable from January the 10th, 2007.
