Laika is a 6 piece melodic death metal band. Combining the modern metal feeling from the new wave of North American metal with European influences such as Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth and Kalmah. With inspirations from both classical music and folk metal; Laika delivers a truly surreal sound experience. Originally started as a group of friends with different musical backgrounds. Each member brings something completely personal and unique to the writing process. As childhood friends, the members work together flawlessly to bring the otherwise opposing styles to fluid harmony that showcases each members talent. Laika is undoubtedly going to smash through the local scene and set itself apart. In 2010 Laika has recorded there full length debut called "Crafting the Cataclysm" and embarked on a Western Canada tour. Upon homecoming of that tour Ray Mackelson decided to depart from the band in which we have recruited Mike Mason in 2011 we have a ambitious Eastern Canada tour planned and a recording of a second album. Looking forward to seeing you all at upcoming shows which we keep constantly updating!
