Currently working as the Arts Development Officer for Music with Falkirk Council. Prior to that I worked in marketing for the Edinburgh, Islay, Lockerbie and Dundee Jazz Festivals.
Puff Uproar and The Shimmering Sound Affair
are Falkirk's very own street band. With harmonious, up-lifting, cacophonous brass and a rhythm section that will make your eye-balls rattle with bass-y goodness, the band aim to transport you from the colourful climes of the Sao Paulo carnival down through South Eastern Europe for complex, Klezmer, crashing and across to Russia for moody, melodious marching music that can’t fail to enrapture your mind and take control of your feet. They rehearse every Wednesday evening at Falkirk Old and St Modan’s Church between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. If you’re over the age of 16, have a sense of adventure and are interested in joining a raucous carnival band then get in touch.
The Music Room
is a rehearsal space for bands of all ages, equipped with Yamaha drum kit, Zildjian cymbals, Marshall guitar and bass amps, Roland keyboard, small vocal PA, SM58 microphones with boom stands and a small recording desk. There is no charge for musicians aged 17 and under to use the facility and for bands over 17 there is reasonable hire charge of £8 per hour.
Unsigned
The ‘Unsigned’ nights are monthly gigs held in the Lesser Town Hall of FTH, West Bridge Street. This month, the Unsigned Festival! Featuring, Breaching Copyright, The Weatherkings, Icon 66, Alana, Croma, Phoenix Q, Lamen's Terms, Marlow, David Bateman and The Last Saloon will play at FTH on Thurs 9th April, from 5pm. Stirling and Falkirk Promoter's Network
A joint initiative between Falkirk Council and The Tolbooth (Stirling), the Promoter’s Network invites anyone from the Central Belt who promotes live music, or has an interest in doing so to attend monthly meetings. It’s an opportunity to cohesively programme live music across the central region.
