Want to try standup comedy???

Here is what to do if you want to get on stage and give it a try. Call the box office at 858-454-9176 on Sunday BETWEEN 11:30am and 5:00pm and give them your name. There will then be a drawing where 15 people are picked at random to be on next weeks Sunday New Talent Night. Call back again on the same Sunday after 7:00pm to see if you made the list. If your name was picked you go onstage the following Sunday.

If you do make the show you get 3 min of stage time to start your fledgling career in stand up comedy. The show will start at exactly 7:00pm on every Sunday and the doors open at 6:45pm. Get there at 6:45 and check in with the door guy and the host of the show. If you are late you will not make the show and Letterman is never going to call you.

Here is a little advice for starters. Our open mic is a very supportive atmosphere, so don't be an asshole until you are a superstar. Be nice. Bring some friends and have some fun. Trust me on this... when the next person is getting offstage and you are about to go up, you will be happy if you have a little support system in the audience.

If you want to check out the show first to get a feel for what's going to happen, call the club at (858) 454-9176 on Sunday between 11am and 5pm and tell them you are thinking about trying stand-up and want to see an actual show. We will put you on the comp list so you don't have to pay a cover and you can see for yourself what it is like. The same general rules apply... 21 and up, 2 drink min (or the waitress will kill both of us.)

Being a stand-up comedian is the greatest feeling in the entire world, so if you think you have it in you come on out and have some fun with us on Sundays. You will stand on the same stage that Richard Pryor, Jay Leno, and every other great comedian you can think of has graced. It could change your life, or at the very least you can say to your grandchildren... "one time I went on stage at The World Famous Comedy Store in La Jolla and made an ass of myself." Good luck and we hope to see you at the club.
