ENGLISH------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giovanni Dal Monte has composed original scores for classic silent movies (Nosferatu by Murnau, Lulu, die buchse der 'Pandora by Pabst) and soundtracks for the television and the film industry (for instance, his music is performed in the latest two films (Otto and LA Zombie) by cult director Bruce LaBruce, alongside that by such musicians as Cocorosie and Antony and the Johnsons).--------------------------------------------------- He has created compositions for exhibitions in museums and art galleries, short films, the theatre and dance companies. Under the name of La Jovenc, Giovanni Dal Monte has his music distributed by labels like the British White Label Music, the Swiss Trepok, the German Crippled Dick Hot Wax, the Norwegian Origo Planet and the Spanish Storung.-------------------------- Barry Adamson, who together with Angelo Badalamenti has composed many soundtracks for David Lynch's films, has defined his music "superb" and John Zorn has written he really appreciates La Jovenc's music. --------------------------------------The wish to get rid of the stereotypes typical of electronic music (usually considered a means, not a goal) has led La Jovenc to the re-elaboration into contemporary patterns of the essence of jazz, the classical repertoire, Sicilian folksongs, the rhythms of Gnawa music from Morocco… In a few words, any kind of music he feels attracted to.---------------------- At the same time, he has explored the glitch trends of today's electronic music, by making sampled birds and insects sing for example, thus creating original tango or boogie rhythms; or even by making the human body "play", for instance by recording its physiological sounds according to polirhythmic patterns, with humour and inventiveness.------------------------------------------ Giovanni Dal Monte was awarded the Avantgarde Italian Prize in 2006 and the Ixem Prize in 2007. He has played at the IxMae Festival in San Francisco and the Storung Festival in Barcelona, together with artists like Murcof, Scanner, Kangding Ray etc. ....oh no!!! what can i say? from billie Holiday to Bjork? From Stockhausen to Gorecki? from Hendrix to Matmos? from Mingus to Lachenmann? ethnic,pop,classical...Gnawa, ragas, sufi ? Please..... Eno, scott, reich, ligeti,britten,varese?...handel, haydn, strauss's lieders, mozart...??? did they influence my music or should i say they first have feed my mind? i don't know. **** and I would also say..lately silence is my preferred sound. Everykind of music can bother me, mine first! I think there are not only musical influences, but life experiences, culture context, literature, inclinations..which contribute to create an artistic dimension. The way to perceive and use memories, love, hate, our fears.. and especially limits, they gave us the form (shape?)..and as we suppose, form is substance. How could we get the meaning of Picasso or Reich for example, without contemplate first their visible form? ******* And then paintings, colors..perfumes...relationships.. However, La Jovenc's music it's experimental, electronic, sometime jazzy and sometime concrete music, but warm, ritual and apocryphal. It cames from somewhere in the past, it's here and now for a while and i don't know where it will goes. ..----------------------------------------------------------------------------------A new video "free from the men of god" from the album "Superanima", director Pier Giorgio De Pinto. Initially conceived as critic to the unbelievable subordination of the Italian democracy to the vatican, the concept could be extended to all the similar realities in the world. -The men who manage religions, the men of god, manage power, money, makes the wars..and the believers of all the religions accept..and somewhere, sometimes, often, their believing become law also for the ones who don't believe...it becomes prevarication -they speak of freedom and tolerance of cult...why not to revindicate the freedom of not believing and the liberty of criticism? -Everyday now in the newspapers and in the television in italy today the men of god make to know what is good and what is wrong, and the democracy follows their suggestions...we are becoming the iran of the west...a teocratic country. -Can we tell it, or is a "racist offence" to the vulnerable, caring , loving billions of prevaricating believers of all the world who wants me dead because of their religion, their men of god, their prejudice, their racism? .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The video "Sicilian yell for Ayaan Hirsi Ali" from the album "Superanima".Director Pier Giorgio De Pinto.Dedicated to all the women, men, gays, lesbians, to all who have different politic opinions who are persecuted all over the world by laws, dictature, religions and corrupted states.
