Well, I'm complex and very deep. We'll start there. (just kidding). The people that know me and like me report that I'm: intelligent, caring, articulate, witty (or a smart-ass depending on who you ask), politically active and socially aware, liberal, a good friend and *hopefully* passionate. Those that know me and don't care for me report that I'm: serious, cold, tactless, superficial, and arrogant. There is probably some truth in each of those. I'll say this: I try to live my life with integrity and respect with a touch of tenacity and virtue. I genuinely care for others. I'd give the world to my friends and family. I don't define family by those I share blood with -- I think people that have dealt with oppression and shame understand why... it's a fun conversation if you are interested in knowing more...
I'm unapologetically gay and part Portuguese. I try to stay open minded, but I have a hard time with conservative thinkers (not speaking in solely a political sense), particularly those that haven't,don't, or refuse to give thought to their ideology. I've worked hard to formulate what I believe and who I am, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the same from others; though I'm also an educator and understand that the beginning of bridging gaps begins with meeting people where they are.
I think it's amazing that I get to say 'I love you' to most people I talk to in any given day (personal conversations, not work...). I'm surrounded by beautiful, talented, funny and breath-taking people. For that, I couldn't be more thankful.
