“Lake City [is] marvelous and stately… Matt “Pistol” Stossel casts a beautifully Zevon-ian mood over the room.” –Will Johnson (Centro-matic)
Matt Stossel was well established as a sideman in Athens, providing pedal steel and guitar for a number of acts including Don Chambers + Goat, Summer Hymns, and the Centro-matic spin-off band South San Gabriel. Although he penned a number of songs for the locally loved country rockers Grand Fury, it wasn’t until that band dissolved that he stepped downstage to the mic. With just a little less twang and a healthy dose of texture and dynamics, Pistol formed Lake City with the help of his former Grand Fury cohorts Bill Rhoton (Guitar, Keys) and Dave Whitling (Drums), and along with Fritz Gibson (Bass), Lake City recently completed their debut record with Andy Baker (The Glands, Now It’s Overhead), which will be released in 2008.
AthFest was a blast. It had been far too long since I'd heard y'all play. Your songs make me smile--and shake my ass a little. That's never a bad thing, right?
Ok lads, i sent the press kit to ya'lls band website since matt never got it... i pretty much just took what you have on here cause it's all good stuff, but we can add/delete whatever you want.
