"You could drop this guy off at the Arctic Circle wearing a pair of bikini underwear, without his toothbrush, and tomorrow afternoon he's going to show up at your pool side with a million dollar smile and fist full of pesos."
Lakemonitor is a musical goose that was found chirping sweet sounds into my grandfather's ear.
Unfortunately, it's not. It's the musical identity behind which lurks Andrew Corkery. Andrew cut his teeth as a guitarist with the legendary Shambolic-Rock pioneers, Funk Taxi. After the dust had settled on the legal documents which punctuated their demise, he began playing with a number of local Longford musicians in a group which eventually morphed into The Jap Adapters. "The Japs" played a number of fun gigs in the early years of the century, delighting crowds with their blend of GBV covers and slick original tracks like the post-rock, semi-religious anthem "Deposit With Jack". But life was to change for The Japs - once the money dried up and foreign investors started to feel their toes growing cold, it was apparent that it was time to call a halt. Since that day, Lakemonitor has been periodically squeezing tunes out of the vault and releasing them on his micro-label Disrupted Records. His solo releases to date are:
Nunc Dimitibus (1998)
Boon (2000)
Songs Of The Hopper (2001)
On Gremlin Horses (2002)
Armitage Thanks (2005)
