Born in the Holy Land of 5-Rivers - i came to London City in 1978.Grew up & studied in West London(Southall init),Yet Never forgot my Roots Culture & Traditional Values! Also Born & Blessed with the Gift of Music & Heavily influenced into the Art of Music by my Mamaji who in India Punjab plays the SAURANGi as a RAAGi! Self taught in playing the Dhol Tumbi Dufli & Harmonium & always learning because of my Divine Love & Passion for Maa Boli & Punjabi Music! For the Love of Poetry i WRiTE, COMPOSE & SiNG MY OWN SONGS which are from the Heart&Soul - Original&MeaningfulL, & Not Just "Words" put together for the sake of a Song & Music Companies!Growing up listening to the 80's Bollywood Classics- Following the Footsteps of the great LEGENDS SHRi GURDAS MAAN Ji MY HERO- Debi Makhsoospuri and Late Amar Chamkila,Shiv Kumar Batalvi,Asa Singh Mastana,Surinder Kaur,Lal Chand Yamla Jatt to name a few- i am flexible in Singing Hindi & Punjabi - So the Dream of having my own Band became a Reality in 1986,when i met Jasvinder Singh Dhillon & WANJARA was Born***
WANJARA was established as the Youngest Punjabi Phangra Band in uk after Releasing our Debut Album "TERE BIN" in 1988, followed by 2nd Album "WANJARA THE COMEBACK" in 1990 - & We played LiVE at Weddings,Functions& Charity events all across uk- WANJARA Performed LiVE First at Ealing Town Hall in Dec 1987 with Nirmal Shava Shava,formerly Kalapreet. The opening of the show was by GURDIAL SIRA from London Academy of Acting...WANJARA was noticed & Loved by the Punjabi Public & Various Artists established such as SHAVA SHAVA,
PREMI,HEERA,ALAAP,HOLLE HOLLE. Throughout the years Late 1980's to 1990's (when Music was LiVE & Original) Wanjara Performed with Many established Bands&Singers Namely- A.S.KANG & PARAMJIT PAMMI-PREMI-APNA SANGEET-ALAAP-DCS-GOLDEN STAR-SAHOTAS- & Many More ...Myself and Jasvinder Sang & wrote songs for various artists also... WANJARA as a Band performed for over SEVEN YRS before splitting up & going separate ways! DOSTi remained with Jasi & myself ever after...until suddenly Tragedy Struck & my Best friend Jasi passed away. Since Jasi's sudden departure from the worlds stage, i could not Sing& Stand alone without my Right arm & best friend... THE DREAM OF WANJARA was put aside for nearly 10 yrs , until by GuruKirpa i met up again with Raju (Premi) in 2004... Raju was working on album "Fatal Addiction" & needed some songs from me, & so the Journey of Wanjara starts again...WANJARA iS BACK iN TOWN...
