Mochilla was created by Mohammad Kundos, a Film major at Brandeis University. Mohammad is a Palestinian from Jaffa. He started Mochila as another tool for building bridges between cultures, both on the human level where people from different cultures identities come together and play the universal language of music, and also on the music level where he combines in his compositions Arabic music with Jazz, Indian music and other world music.
Mochilla refers to a large leather bag made of simple materials made by Indian farmers in Colombia. Despite its simple materials and structure, it holds a lot of weight. Just like the bag, the band presents and manages to hold a combination of different identities, a fusion of cultures and rituals.
Mochilla's mission: Create. Appreciate. Discover. Combine. No matter where you are from. Don't be Afraid. Shout.Out.Loud.
