Lambic is a style of Belgian ale that is spontaneously fermented from wild yeasts. Lambic is also a band featuring Paul Sullivan on guitars and effects, and Stephen Moses (alice donut) on drums, trombone, and effects. Lambic is spontaneously fermented music, free improvisation with a groove.
I first played with Steve when we were in Dock Ellis, a psychedelic rock band. We had each been doing solo performances for years using effects and loops. When we joined forces, Lambic was spontaneously created. Its joyful music that can and does go everywhere. Like it's namesake, Lambic is always changing and evolving, often unpredictable but always exciting. We never know where it's going to go, and that is the point.
The Lambic album (available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/lambic ) was recorded in one afternoon, at Seizures Palace in Brooklyn. Steve's drums were already set up and miked for an Alice Donut session, so we miked up the guitar, and went to town. All music was recorded live in the studio, with no overdubs. What you hear is exactly what happened that day.
You ask me if I love you and I choke on my reply. I'd
rather hurt you honestly than mislead you with a lie.
I wanna hold you 'til I die. 'Til we both break down
and cry. I wanna hold you till the fear in me
subsides. Thanks for the add. Love, Mandy Stadtmiller
Can't recall whether I've ever got around to piping up, but this stuff is great. Was looking forward to coming down for the NoMeansNo show - the last two syllables will do for now, alas. Some other time I hope.
Prosit!
Paul - Was good to see you and jam with you - felt like I was back at my roots! I'll make a Lambic gig next time I'm in NYC...I love the beer so I know I'll love the real thing!
