Lamera ist eine Metal Band aus Mannheim, die im Jahre 2004 gegründet wurde. Die Musik lässt sich wohl eher den härteren Metal-Sparten zuordnen. Doch erhält die Musik durch die Experimentierfreudigkeit und die unterschiedlichen Einflüsse aller Musiker, einen ganz eigenen, fast progressiven Charakter.
Die Ur-Besetzung, die sich damals nach einer Zeitungsannonce gefunden hatte, bestand aus Tom (Gitarre, Gesang), Silvio (Drums) und Max (Gitarre).
Obwohl alle drei ihren Einfluss aus verschieden Metal-Richtungen hatten, verliefen die ersten gemeinsamen Jam-Sessions sehr harmonisch und man beschloss im Jahre 2004 eine Band zu gründen.
Die Suche nach einem geeigneten Sänger und Bassisten gestaltete sich schwierig.
Erst als das Gefühl entstand, dass keiner der verfügbaren Sänger wirklich in die Band passte, nahm Tom, der bisher nur Gitarre spielte, das Mikro selbst in die Hand. Seitdem ist er die Stimme von Lamera und hat seine Growls bis zum heutigen Tage mit viel Ehrgeiz perfektioniert.
Auch am Bass verlief die suche nach einem geeigneten Musik schwierig. Für ein Jahr stand ein Freund von Max am Bass. Aber nach dessen Abgang, konnte für fast ein weiteres Jahr niemand gefunden werden, der menschlich und musikalisch in die Band passte. Im Jahre 2006 meldete sich Matej auf eine Zeitungsannonce. Seit der ersten Probe war klar, dass er zur Band gehören muss. Mittlerweile verleiht sein Bassspiel der Musik seinen ganz eigenen Charakter.
Im Jahre 2008 wurde in der jetzigen Besetzung aus Tom, Silvio, Max und Matej, die erste CD „Destruction Manual“ aufgenommen. Die Songs wurden zwischen den Jahren 2005 und 2007 geschrieben und lassen die musikalische Entwicklung der Band deutlich erkennen.
Bis zum Jahre 2009 wurden viele neuen Songs geschrieben und man beschloss fünf davon, auf die aktuelle EP "Apex" zu bannen. Mit den neuen Songs tritt die Bands insgesamt noch geschlossener und eine kleine Ecke härter als bisher auf.
Live stehen die Jungs seit 2006 auf der Bühne. Bei zahlreichen Club-Gigs im Südwesten Deutschlands konnten viele Fans gewonnen werden. Im Sommer 2009 wurden nun die ersten größeren Festivals in Angriff genommen.
Lamera is a metal Band from Mannheim, Germany which began in the fall of 2004. The music finds itself more towards the harder end of the metal spectrum. It not only contains metal elements but also comprises of many different musical styles due to the bands experimental nature and the musical influences of its members. These factors give the music an interesting but aggressive character.
Lamera was formed when Silvio Stolzenthaler (Drums) responded to a local newspaper ad written by Max Gratzl (Guitars) saying that a metal guitarist is looking to start a new band. Silvio then told Max that he would bring Thomas Franklin (Vocals/Guitars) with him. Although they all had different metal backgrounds, they found the chemistry between them fit and that they would begin a new metal project.
Immediately the search was on for a singer and bassist to round out the band. After a few tryouts of different local singers made it clear that there wasn’t anyone who fit to the bands personality or music style until Tom (who only played guitar till this point) took the microphone in his hand. At this moment Lamera’s members knew that this was what their music needed.
The search for a bassist was also a difficult undertaking. A friend of Max took the bass playing responsibility for over a year until he decided to leave the band for personal reasons. Thereafter the band searched for over a year for another bassist with no success until Matej Satovic answered an ad that we put in the internet. After his tryout it was clear that he was our man and ever since then his playing has given the music its characteristic bass sound.
In 2008 Lamera released its first CD ,,Destruction Manual..... These songs were written between 2005 and 2007 and show a noticeable progression in the bands writing process with songs ranging from the thrash licks of ,,War Machine” to Metal/Grooves of (Judgement).
From early 2008 till 2009 many new songs were written and five of them can be found on the new EP “ Apex”. With these new tracks the band has reached even further into the harder side of the metal scene with uncompromising riffs, driving drums, ripping vocals and fat bass lines. The band has been playing the club scene in and around Mannheim since early 2006 and has played several metal festivals in southwest Germany winning over many fans with there music and live performances.
