About me: Just listen to this guy play and you will swear that you are listening to Hendrix or SRV. Now that's not to say that Lance Lopez has an identical playing style or that he is milking their trademark styles for all they are worth, like so many other blues guitarists have done and continue to do. Just the opposite is true. It is only to say that Lance Lopez plays with a similar passion and intensity that can only come straight from his gut and very soul, much like Hendrix and SRV did. However, the similarities end there. Lance Lopez posesses all the tricks of the guitar playing trade, including fingers that play at lightening fast speeds. His guitar playing is v~e~r~y impressive to say the least.. but if that is not impressive enough (and believe me when I say that it is), he also writes his own music and sings his own songs. Lance Lopez could easily rest on his "guitar god" playing laurels and be successful.. If that was all he was about. Yet, he is more than just a mere "blues guitarist". Lance Lopez has the talent and ability, as well as the creative insight needed to transcend his music into a more modern rock and R&B influenced place. And this he does quite well. Lance will be the first to admit that his music has it's roots in blues, however, it moves way beyond. There is just something about him that makes him and his music so unique. You cannot quite put your finger on it, but listen to him once and you will see that he has "Star" written all over him! If you have grown tired of the whole "blues guitar driven music thing" and refuse to check out any more new artists in this genre, make one last exception and check out this guy! Lance Lopez is easily one of the most talented and hardest working artists around (indie or otherwise) and I'd be willing to bet that his days of being an underground artist are numbered.. ~Holly Hawthorne
