DRUMS FOR CHIMBUZI
We had an amazing night on Saturday 5th July.
A night of African drumming, dancing, BBQ, photographic exhibition,
auctions and the grand raffle draw.
We raised over £1350 and had such a brilliant night.
On Friday 4th July The Landirani Trust, along with 23 schools and colleges from Surrey, attempted to set the Guinness World Record for "the largest footprint made from children's footprints". The message was to help the children of Malawi walk out of poverty as well as reducing our carbon footprints here in the UK as all money raised is going on our reforestation project.
The day was a huge success with a great atmosphere created by the girls and teachers at Tolworth Girls, who we'd like to say a huge thank you to. Also thank you to all involved in organising and running the event, to Ed Davey MP who came to officiate the BIGFOOT and the Mayor of Kingston too. And finally to everyone who came down on the day to support us and see the BIGFOOT.
It was a brilliant day but, as Ed Davey pointed out in his very poignant speech, a day with a very important message

Over £600 raised.
Saturday 15th March
Art day for kids at Maple Infants in Surbiton
We had a brilliant day with kids aged 4 - 10. There were a number of different activities and everyone had a wicked day. We raised over £200.
Big thank you to Jodi, Naomi, Sophie, Shirley, Louise, Ros, Poppy, Kira, Gaynor, Heather, Gill and Yesl for giving up their time and making it run so smoothly; and to all the kids who came and made it the beautiful day it was.
Friday 22nd February.
Music and cake at the Greyhorse in Kingston
The gig was amazing and we're so so grateful to all the bands, the organisers and the supporters who came to this brilliant night. We raised £350!
We had an exhibition on Friday 15th February with photographs by Gaynor Cook. The exhibition, entitled "Life in Malawi", was a collection of photographs taken in Malawi last year (April and October) and showed a variety of aspects of Malawian living and activities. We also showed the DVD by Sam Palmer that we're producing. It's still a work in progress. It's in it's edited state, but with no sound track yet. We had African music playing throughout and a lot of the group who went out in April last year were there so we had lots of people to talk to the guests and give their personal experiences
It was a lovely evening and we raised over £1000, mainly due to the sale of 8 of Gaynor's beautiful photos.
A big thank you to all involved, all who came to help us and to everyone who came to support us.

MOBILE PHONES AND TOOTHBRUSHES
If you have any old mobile phones lying around collecting dust please let me know as we're trying to provide all our comittee and sub comittee members in each village and satellite villages with a phone so we can all work together in developing and encouraging a self-sustaining environment for all.
A lot of the orphans share toothbrushes and thats how disease and infection is spread so easily. They are a brilliant thing to send out to Malawi so keep your eyes open for cheap toothbrushes...cheers...x
We are supporting over 3,000 orphans in their villages. We support 6 centres in a 60km diameter area north of the Capital, Lilongwe.
THE LANDIRANI TRUST is a registered charity formed to give life and hope, to a small part of Malawi, the 'Warm heart of Africa'.
Our Vision is to see a healthy, educated, self-sufficient community in Malawi.
Our Mission Statement:
Promote educational facilities for all children in the community
Enhance the ability of the community to become self-sufficient
Ensure care of orphans and vulnerable people affected by HIV/AIDS
Provide fresh water and sanitation
We are dedicated to helping children, whose childhoods have been suddenly taken away from them, due to illness, poverty and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The amount of these affected children is incredible. A generation is slowly being eliminated, leaving the elderly to take care of the young
