BIOGRAPHY
Land Mynd is an unsigned heavy metal/hard rock band which hails from the Uniontown area of southwestern Pennsylvania. Influenced by such artists as Pantera, Godsmack, and Black Label Society, they have formed a unique sound that fuses the grunginess of the 90's with a classic rock feel and a heavy metal edge. The band consists of Jon Piechowicz (lead guitar/vocals), Brandon Lynch (rhythm guitar/vocals), Aaron Green (bass guitar), and Curt Cirillo (drums). Combing powerful yet melodic music with lyrics that depict such topics as insanity, mythology, and their own personal experiences and beliefs, Land Mynd draws an audience that is made up of music fans of all kinds. One fan posted an online review of a 2006 Land Mynd show, saying "(Land Mynd) show more of their musicianship rather than just making a bunch of mosh pit anthems." Another person who claimed to be Land Mynd's biggest fan simply said "It's good music to listen to when you're high."
The earliest form of Land Mynd came to be in 2004 when Jon and Lynch's random jam sessions turned into weekly practices. They soon picked up ex-Osiris guitarist and friend, Chris Cirillo to fill the position of bassist as well as his brother, Curt Cirillo to play drums. In late 2007, Chris decided to leave the band and was shortly thereafter replaced by former Gang Green bassist, Aaron Green. Through their high energy shows and wallet crushing promotional tactics they have formed a strong, devoted following in the southwestern Pennsylvania area. Land Mynd has performed with such bands as The Dreaming, Trust Company, Baghead, and even Pittsburgh's legendary powerpop rock guitarist Dave Granati of the Granati Brothers. Though one would think that the garage shows would now be a thing of the past, they are not. They have instead become a trademark of the band, as once or twice a year they will hold shows in dank, smokey, beer soaked garages. "Georgefest" and "Garagefest" are the most notable of these shows.
Since their formation, Land Mynd have released three demos and one studio album; "Under Arrest" in 2004, "Insanity Awakens" in 2005, "Live At Club 62" in 2006, and their studio album "Deceased Peace" in 2007. They also made their FM radio debut in 2006 when they were featured on Power 92's radio show "The Street Fight." Now moving ahead in 2009, Land Mynd continues to push themselves to the top of the local music scene. Their music can be heard on several local music compilation CD's throughout Mideast coast as well as numerous internet radio stations. The band has also been featured in local newspapers such as Connellsville's Daily Courier in an article interviewing the band about the release of their new CD, "Deceased Peace" and Uniontown's Herald Standard, in which they graced the cover of the newspaper's Weekend Scene insert.
While the band saves enough money for mass production of the CD, CD-R versions of Deceased Peace are currently available at their live performances as well as some local music stores. In addition to continuing to push their live shows to the limit, the band is currently sending press kits out to radio stations throughout the east coast in hopes of taking the next step towards getting their music out to the masses.
