“Gone but not
forgotten”
Lane was born on October
12, 1963, and lived his first 14 years in Utah before moving to Lane, Oklahoma in
1978. Lane always loved the rodeo and began with the Little Buckaroos Rodeo’s
in 1974. From there he went on to accomplish great things in the rodeo circuit,
until his death on July 30th 1989 in Cheyenne Wyoming. Lane had just
finished an 8 second ride on a bull named Taking Care of Business, when the bull
spun around and came up behind Lane and hit him twice with his horns. The
second hit proved fatal when it broke several of Lane’s ribs which severed a
main artery. Lane died almost instantly.
In August 1989 Lane's funeral was held at the First Baptist Church in Atoka,
Oklahoma. Lane was laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma. Near
his good friend Freckles Brown.
