Lao Tzu
"As to the roaming of sages,
They move in utter emptiness,
Let their minds meander in the great nothingness;
They run beyond convention
And go through where there is no gateway.
They listen to the soundless
And look at the formless,
They are not constrained by society
And not bound to its traditions."
***
Chuang Tzu
"I dreamed I was a butterfly,
flitting around in the sky;
then I awoke. Now I wonder:
Am I a man who dreamt of being a butterfly,
or am I a butterfly dreaming that I am a man?"
***
Lieh Tzu
"If we understand that birth
and death are part of the natural
order of things, we will know that
our lives cannot be controlled by
our own efforts, and coming and
going are not our own doing.
At birth, we take a shape and form;
in growth, we undergo development
and change; and when our course
has run out, we dissolve and return
to where we were before we were born."

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao;
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is the mother of ten thousand things.
Ever desire less, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name; this appears as darkness. Darkness within darkness.
The gate to all mystery.
—(Gia-Fu Feng
Tao (pronounced "Dow") can be roughly translated into English as path, or the way. It is basically indefinable. It has to be experienced. It "refers to a power which envelops, surrounds and flows through all things, living and non-living." The Tao regulates natural processes and nourishes balance in the Universe. It embodies the harmony of opposites (i.e. there would be no love without hate, no light without dark, no male without female.)
The first teacher of the Tao is believed by many to be Lao-Tzu (604-531 BCE). He was searching for a way that would avoid the constant feudal warfare and other conflicts that disrupted society during his lifetime. The result was his book: Tao-te-Ching. Others believe that he is a mythical character.
Taoism started as a combination of psychology and philosophy but evolved into a religious faith in 440 CE when it was adopted as a state religion. At that time Lao-Tzu became popularly venerated as a deity. Taoism, along with Buddhism and Confucianism, became one of the three great religions of China. With the end of the Ch'ing Dynasty in 1911, state support for Taoism ended. Much of the Taoist heritage was destroyed during the next period of warlord-ism. After the Communist victory in 1949, religious freedom was severely restricted. "The new government put monks to manual labor, confiscated temples, and plundered treasures. Several million monks were reduced to fewer than 50,000" by 1960. 3 During the cultural revolution in China from 1966 to 1976, much of the remaining Taoist heritage was destroyed. Some religious tolerance has been restored under Deng Xiao-ping from 1982 to the present time.
Taoism currently has about 60 million followers & Taoism has had a significant impact on North American culture in areas of acupuncture, herbalism, holistic medicine, meditation & martial arts.

Among dreams, desires and wishes, one day I saw myself flying... but among dreams I saw myself falling,... among wishes I saw myself defeated,... and among illusions, a day like all I saw myself giving in. Wend I stop my step I realized that they were only dreams, desires and illusions, an imaginary world in which of blind will I decided to enter and that of internal impulse I shelved. We are a social entity, rather, sociable by necessity, we need others to nurture our existence, but of that merger must result an individual, a unique thought, a free will. The triumph of human nature does not lie in perpetuating human nature as such, but in changing it every day of our existence; the foundations for the triumph of the human spirit must rest in its freedom, in promoting its freedom and defending its freedom... because when we surrender our spirit to the will of others we permit them to live our lives, and life itself, both of the individual of the community, would stop renewing itself … and cease to exist in the real world. As I return my steps I let my self be guided by the same force that got me this far and I was pleased to find the place in which I have always wanted to be... Because one day, far from dreams, wishes and illusions... with open eyes I saw miself flying.
My beloved friend, the journey to experience humanness is done out of unconditional love that we have for each other, but we had to forget this fact for a little while hence we walk alone feeling foreign and disconnected from each other I just wanted to take this time to remind you that you are me and I am you and this is how it is and will always be and there is nothing that can change this reality, so begin today to make this you sole intention of loving without conditions. As a good friend of mine Doris Morrison says “I love you and there is nothing you can do about it” Be well my love ones. Truly in love and light Erica

The more taboos and prohibitions there are in the world, The poorer people will be. The more sharp weapons the people have, The more troubled the state will be.
