Her musical journey started at the young age of 6, taking piano lessons with Legendary 80's music innovator Howard Jones. At 12 she was singing solo and went on to train operatically with Dr. Lynn Berg at Boise State University. She arrived in the Bay Area in 1998 in search of her dream of singing in a band. Lara began running her own blues jam at JJ’s Blues, and was featured in an inspiring article about blues jams in the September 2000 issue of the Blues Revue.
Lara fell in love with the blues without expecting to, "I didn't find the blues, the blues found me".
She has come a long way in a short time, earning loyal fans worldwide. The journey of Lara's blues band (The Lara Price Band) includes 4 great CD's, a tour across the U.S.A. and China, and many performances at world renowned festivals such as the Monterey Blues Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival and The Greater Ozarks Blues Festival. Lara and her band have shared the bill with headliners Etta James, Little Richard, James Brown, Bobby Blue Bland, Leon Russell and many more. Lara also lent her talent to sing back-up with Triple Seven at the Fillmore in San Francisco, opening up for the pop band Smashmouth.
Lara fronts and leads several musical projects: Lara and Laura Unplugged, an acoustic duo; Velvet Plum, a popular bay area cover band that includes talent from San Jose's finest musicians; the Lara Price Band, a soulful rockin' blues band, and Lara's new project Lara Price & Yesterday's Band a wonderful mix of jazz, blues and R&B.
The Lara Price Band is currently featured on the Ruf Records international release "Blues Guitar Women" and has been written up as the "Hot Pick" on the CD by Guitar One Magazine.
Lara looks forward to promoting all 3 of her CD's and creating another new self produced CD exploring the soulful elements of gospel and a twist of R&B.
She’s an All American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that demands you're attention-smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It's no wonder her music transcends the blues and crosses a line into music that is unequivocally superb.
"It’s all about the love of music and letting the crowd share in my passion."
Lara, THIS IS IT, I have ONE LAST favor to ask you about this, could I? Since, as you might’ve heard, my picture won at the monthly level & Round 1, I got nominated for the LongHair Hawtie of the Year Finals (!) that ends today 7pm New York Time (can you just get it done now?) and... - was hoping for those 6 votes from you ;)
Yeah, you do need to get accepted as a friend of www.MySpace.com/OfficialLongHairHawties before you can vote, but they’re nice girls (the hawtie folks), no harm whatsoever :)
PS. since it would be so cool to win ‘by a landslide’ of like 7-800+ votes OVER and ABOVE over #2 guy (who will give us run for the money, he’s done that before!) - so, an 'evil' thought - maybe you can tell your friends to vote too? ;) Could you ask around?
We are very excited about playing at such an awesome jazz club. We have some great sets lined up for you, so don't miss it. Friday and Saturday November 20th and 21st, 5:00-8:30p at Andy's Jazz Club in Chicago
Aaron Koppel -Guitar, Matt Nelson; (Lupe Fiasco, Matthew Santos) -Keyboard, Graham Czach; (Chicago Afrobeat Project) -bass, Robert Tucker (Matthew Santos) -drums
Come out to see Lara at the Torch Club in Sacramento on Oct 4. Ten bands, two stages, raffles, pasta cook-off, a silent auction of photos and other items, and hundreds of your closest blues-lovin' friends. 2:00-8:00 at 15th and I Sts, Sacramento.
