Being with family and friends, singing and playing the piano, acting, making jewelry, watchin' movies, gardening, traveling, hiking, canoeing, "Guitar Hero"... and I have a freakishly-good talent for word games, so LOOK OUT!
Music
WAY too much to name it all! I have very eclectic tastes, so these are just some highlights..... I love CURRENT COUNTRY MUSIC (Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Toby, Martina, Little Big Town), OUTLAW COUNTRY (Waylon + Willie + Cash = crazy roadtrips!), JAZZ and STANDARDS (including any recording by Ella Fitzgerald), THE TRAVELING WILBURYS (a category all their own), 70s/80s/90s DANCE music (anything from funk to ABBA to Madonna), CLASSIC ROCK (ELO, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Heart), CLASSICAL (mostly the Romantic era), CLASSICAL CROSSOVER (The American Tenors!), and 90s HOT A-C (Dave Matthews Band, No Doubt, Matchbox Twenty)... just to name a few!
Movies
Anything involving Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Adam Sandler, or Ben Stiller is a safe bet! (BTW, I interviewed Will Ferrell once, and thank goodness he was SO NICE, so I can still enjoy watching his movies!) I see new movies as much as possible (!!), and there are also some all-time favorites I will never get tired of, like... "The Wizard of Oz," "Caddyshack," "Pretty in Pink," "The Goonies," "You've Got Mail," “The Shawshank Redemption,” the original "Star Wars" trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy... the list goes on. I love movies!
Television
"The Office" (US + UK, but I quickly started liking the US version more), "The Daily Show," "The Colbert Report," "Meet the Press," "American Idol," "My Name is Earl," "Battlestar Gallactica" (the new one), "What Not to Wear" (US version -- love it!), Christmas specials, and anything on HGTV or The History Channel. Plus, gotta get my daily TiVo of "The Young and the Restless!"
Books
Spooky who-dunnit mysteries are so much FUN! I also like coffee table books, especially if they're shaped like coffee tables. (Wink.)
Heroes
That would HAVE to be my parents! I also volunteer with the American Cancer Society and have tremendous admiration for those working to beat cancer AND for the loved ones who support them in that fight.
I also play the piano purdy darn well, plus some percussion, but I'll only accept the big bucks for my SINGING. Jazz CD coming soon! :-) Lots of fun Sinatra/Ella-type of stuff, but all new arrangements!
I'm hangin' in the Wolf's Den all week long as MIDDAY HOST (10am-2pm) at the New 106-5 The Wolf -- Kansas City's Howlin' Country! Gimme a listen on the air or online at www.1065thewolf.com.
Managed Media Relations for Kansas City Repertory Theatre, including TV/Radio publicity for actors. One time, Ricardo Antonio Chavira told me about his pilot he hoped would get picked up. Turned out to be "Desperate Housewives"!!
About me: Hi, guys ~ I'm a radio DJ, voiceover chick and singer in KC and am having a blast "sucking the nectar out of life!" LOL. I'm a glass-half-full kind o' girl and believe that you never know whose life you may affect just by being kind. So PLAY NICE, everybody! :-)
Who I'd like to meet: Okay, this is just a side-note, but I have this goofy obsession with figuring out which CELEBRITY someone looks like. It's a GREAT table game if you're out to dinner with a bunch of friends! I tried this "Celebrity Look-alikes" generator, but I don't think I agree with these weird results... LOL!
Laurie! How are you doing? hope all is well, just wanted to say i saw the pictures on 106. 5's web site and had to make it my profile pic!! Thanks for having me on the Party Bus it was a ton of fun!
We totally are...we've hit the dog parks like a million times already!! I saw Nathan in the other day and told him that as soon as I start firing up my grill, I'm having a BBQ and you two are totally invited!
