About Larisa Migachyov

Larisa Migachyov was born in Russia and immigrated to the US at the age of 13. She first declared an interest in music at the age of 3, and began formal piano lessons when she was 5. Despite an obvious interest in music, she studied engineering in college and went on to work at a high-tech company in Silicon Valley, while playing the piano for recreation. She only returned to serious music-making in 2006, when she made her debut at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival with her first-ever ragtime composition, the Purple Chicken Rag. Since then, she has performed at the Eau Claire Ragtime Festival and the Lake Superior Ragtime Festival, premiering a new composition at each one. Larisa currently attends law school and sneaks away to ragtime festivals and other performance opportunities as often as humanly possible.

Hey, have you seen any of the Janet Klein videos on YouTube? I love her Jewish/Yiddish/Hebrew (whichever) singing style, and of course some of the songs are EXTREMELY ethnic. Just wonderful stuff. If you get a chance listen to Janet sing "The Physician," and "Cohen Owes Me Ninety-seven Dollars" on my YouTube channel. They are too delicious. Tom Warner	Dec 11 2007 10:28 PM Hi Larisa, I had to come back and visit your channel to get my Purple Chicken Fix! I think if I listen to the tune several times, I'll get it in my head good enough play my trumpet version by ear some day, and post it either here or on YouTube. It'll be anticlimactic since I am miles from being as good as many average players. In fact someone will probably accuse me of butchering the poor Purple Chicken!
