When Larissa plays solo on the keys back home in Austin, she often gets called "Norah Jones on Fire." But Larissa's diverse songwriting styles connects with a broad spectrum of music lovers. Larissa’s musical style has transformed from classical to jazzy to pop to R&B over the years due to her past eclectic music experiences which include being a trained classical pianist from the age of three, touring with & managing her own band, joining an already established rock band called Burn, and attending Texas State University for a music education focusing on both Classical and Jazz vocal training. Names often mentioned to describe Larissa's solo musical performance on the piano include Colbie Caillat, Sarah McLachlan & Sara Bareilles.
In the past year, Larissa's song "Je T'aime" aired on commercials for B & H Music Stores. These commercials are appearing on MTV, VH1, SPK, NICK, FXNC, SFI, & ENT in the Houston, Texas area.
Larissa’s music has received radio play all over the US, England, France and Germany. Austin’s biggest rock station, 101X, recently added tracks from her first album to their Sunday morning “Chillville” segments.
And not only has Larissa's song, "Je T'aime" been featured in the New York independent film "Dykeotomies," she was also commissioned by 40/20 Productions to co-write the theme song for the upcoming Austin independent film "Lost in Sunshine."
Also, look for Larissa’s song, “Je T’aime” in the upcoming film, “Until I See You Again”: from the two-time Emmy-award winning producer of the hit TV shows Felicity and Alias.
Just recently on October 14, 2008, Larissa's song "Thoughts Of You" was released on a promo ad for CBS's Primetime show Ghost Whisperer, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Larissa recently finished up in the studio working with HeLLo YOung Productions on her most recent album entitled Hello, which released in November of 2008. With guest rappers including Young Mischiff and well known radio artist Ray C, Larissa blends Hip-Hop beats with sexy, ethereal vocals to mold a unique new urban Trip-Hop/Pop/R&B sound.
In December of 2008, Larissa released, I’ve Found You, a side project E.P. of both jazzy and “latin flavored” music, incorporating Flamenco, Salsa, Bossa Nova , and Samba beats to create an exciting “Norah Jones goes Latin” sound. With Larissa writing French lyrics and featuring players from the world renown Latin groups including Cienfuegos and Grammy-nominated Grupo Fantasma, these tracks are a refreshing new twist for Larissa's music.
With 5 albums under her belt, Larissa intends to hit the promotion for her most recent CD releases hard core in 2009, bringing in more TV and film placement and radio play. All and all, Larissa wants to bring inspiration and motivation for all the other people out there striving to make a career doing what they love. Both fans and friends can stay up to date on Larissa’s progress and also enjoy daily motivational and inspirational quotes and blogs that Larissa posts to her MySpace and web site.
