  • Bio

I've been a drummer for over 26 years. Tired of getting my butt whooped by my folks all the time, I took off for Philly in early "86. About that time I started playing with Deadspot. We put out two albums, "Adios Dude"(Genius/Letterbomb) and "Built in Pain"(C/Z). The Latter being produced by Jack Endino, The man behind Nirvana's "Bleach" and Soundgarden's "Screaming Life"E.P. We toured, opening for L7, Faith No More, Rollins Band, Soundgarden, Suicidal Tendencies, Circle Jerks, etc. We even opened for Pantera at the Trocadero here in Philly towards the end of the "Cowboys from Hell" tour. We stuck it out for a few more years but business and personal issues dictated that we call it a day. When the itch returned, 3/4 of Deadspot returned with frontman Adam Boxleitner as Rupert Speed. We signed with Philly label Compulsiv and released "Ridin' the Pines" and the "Four Chucks at Point" single. Around this time I started working as a professional drum technician for major label acts such as Corrosion of Conformity, Biohazard, Monster Magnet, Static-X, Machine Head, Coal Chamber, American Head Charge and a few others. I got to tour the world and work on the stages of Aerosmith, Van Halen, Page & Plant, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden among others. While working on Ozzfest 2001 with A.H.C., I got a call From Nick St.Denis, bass player for Systematic (The Music Company/Elektra) to fill in while their drummer recouped from an injury. I flew to Colorado Springs,Colorado, rehearsed for a day and then started touring with Saliva. After that we did some headline dates including a gig at the X-Games,(We were introduced by Carrot Top, SCARY!!!) and an appearance on H.B.O.'s "Reverb" which aired with Papa Roach and Beautiful Creatures. After a short break, we embarked on Disturbed's "Music as a Weapon" tour with Drowning Pool, Stereomud, and Adema. My tenure ended after that tour. I was sad but extemely flattered that I had been replaced by Paul Bostaph formerly the drummer for the almighty SLAYER. Paul had actually been a founding member of Systematic. I then got a call from Kobie Jackson, bass player for Primer-55 to fill in for an injured Preston Nash. we did a headline tour with Switched and The Step Kings opening. I then returned to being a drumtech for a year or so until life bit me on the ass once again and I had to take a few years off from music altogether. Now, like the Phoenix, I rise from the ashes to rock the universe. I have been doing studio recording at Rhawn St. Studios in Northeast Philly with former members of legendary Philly metalheads Anvil Bitch and Dominance. Two of those recordings "Road Rage" and "All on the Run" are on this space along with a coupla Rupert Speed and Deadspot tunes. I hope ya'll dig 'em. If ya like my page, tell a friend, if ya don't, I hope ya choke. Larry "The Kid"
