Sounds Like
Every song that we play is done with utmost respect for the artist who originally recorded it. We will not play any song that we do not feel good playing. We do not change the key of any song. We are well known for how much like the original we sound when we perform live.

I love the sound of bass. It is a force of nature, like thunder. I control the flow of a song when I play. I interact with the harmonic structure of music from the fundamental all the way up the spectrum. I influence lives in a very direct and primal way when I play the bass without people even realizing it. I am traditional as a bass player. I understand my function and I love playing the role. I can play the same three note ostinato a hundred times in a song and it is never boring to me. I feel no need to step out. At one point in my career I aspired to and succeeded to attain a level of virtuosity on the bass. Now, as an older and wiser musician, I no longer feel the need. I believe that too many players play far too many notes because they are bored! I have chops and can play a lot of notes as well, but, it is often antithetical to the role of the bass. As impressive as Vic Wooten is, I find myself listening less to him, and more to the cats, such as Chuck Rainey, or David Hood, or James Jamerson, or Jaco, or any number of more bass oriented bassists. Regarding chops, I have a motto - "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
