GREETINGS AND WELCOME TO

I'm a keyboard player with a specialty in Hammond B3 styles. I live in a wee dell at the foot of Gleng'ry Hill in Nashville where I raise turkeys, occasionally displaying them here on MySpace.
The rest of the time I spend in the studios, on stage, or on the bus. I have a blues/RnB/gospel/soul background, which I morph into pop, country, RnR, funk, folk, and jazz. I've played this city's more notable venues, from the Grand Ol' Opry and the CMA Festival, to BB King's, Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie, and the Jefferson Street Festival. I have production, songwriting, tracking, singing, arranging and performance experience with a variety of artists. Nuendo, Digital Performer, ProTools and Reason are my DAW's of choice so far.
I love it all. I've had the privilege of performing and/or recording with T. Graham Brown, Steve Cropper, Charles "Wigg" Walker, Bonnie Bramlett, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Son Seals, Nils Lofgren, Al Green, Lee Oskar, Michael Peterson, Oleta Adams, Johnny Neel, Jo-El Sonnier, Kelley Hunt, the Rev. Jimmie Bratcher, and Bo Diddley, as well as performing with the excellent house band at the historic Starlite Dine and Dance Club.
I'd like to tell you a little about the toons I've posted, in which I attempt to address a few of my more complex and dazzling emotional needs. Thank you for your attention!

Look To The Rainbow ~ OMG, not only is it a showtune, it's a freakin' Irish showtune! WTF? Yes, but aye loik it too. More of a soul interpretation, and jam-packed with potatoey Dutch goodness. Big fun at home on the computer.
Ocean Of Tears, and It Takes A Train To Cry ~ I'm way excited to be working with Shaun Murphy, both in the studio and on stage. For the last 15 years she's been a front singer with one of my all-time favorite bands, Little Feat. Now that she's cranking up her solo career, we're dropping a new album and gearing up for next year's festival season. Too much fun.
Last Two Dollars ~ Having a little impromptu fun in the studio with a few good friends, we were trying out some new microphones and pre-amps. A Memphis-style blues, I'm drawn to the story in this worldly lil' toon, and it's too much fun to sing.
Key To The Highway ~ Every Tuesday around seven, I have the pleasure of going over to Serenity Hill Studios and for the fun of it, dust off a few despicable old blues tunes with friends I've known most of my adult life. Back in the day in Kansas City, we were known as Colt 45/KC Blues Band. Now we (I) call these jams, The Tuesday Night Possum Shoot. Rick Hendricks on guitar, Tom Bark on bass, and Mike O'Neil on drums. Brutha Steve Glassmeyer from Kenny Roger's band sits in on the sanctified cathouse piano.
2 Easy 2 Say Goodbye ~ I love the blues! And I love gospel music too, and this is sort of a combination. It's about a broken heart I suffered back in the early 1860's. Of course I dealt with it in a mature and pro-active way by getting my first and only DUI, writing twenty-five songs, and moving to Nashville. I co-wrote this with my old friend Thom Thornell back in KC, and whupped it out on this ol' Mac using Reason and ProTools .
Rita Don't Live Here No More ~ This is a song I co-wrote with my old pal Thom Thornell. The title came literally from a note the landlord had stuck to his neighbor's door. We never knew what happened to Rita, but we decided to assume the best. This song features a true rock 'n roll legend, Bonnie Bramlett, singin' with me sweet and soulful all over the place. A musical hero of mine, what an honor it was to record with this remarkable lady. Ab-fab soul sista Kim Morrisson joins in on the b.g. vocals.
Goin' To Chicago ~ Another Wednesday Nite Possum Shoot song, this is a venerable ditty that Tom Bark pulled out one evening. The song is about going to Chicago, but it's more of a classic Kansas City style blues. Tim Gonzalez sits in on the French Harp.

"'Come sit for a while on my favorite divan' is the feel Larry lends to a live performance. The Hammond B-3 is the punch that he serves." -MUSIC CITY BLUESLETTER, NASHVILLE, MAY '03
