Larry's writing remembers the spirit of the grizzly, the spirit of the woods, even the spirit of his little cabin. All of them are there, in his songs, and he introduces his listeners to them as the old friends that they are. Each one tells a story that brings you a little closer to the story teller. To experience Larry's performance is to enjoy a true folk artist.
Larry has shared the stage with the likes of Bill Staines, Jonathan Edwards, Guy Davis, Dan Bern, Pierce Pettis, Janice Ian and Susan Werner to name a few. His songs have been heard on television and have been included on many compilation discs. Larry returned to the East Coast in 2006 after recording his latest record, No Place Special, as a tribute and fundraiser for a Massachusetts family raising two daughters with life-threatening disabilities.
"When Larry Zarella opens his suitcase of original songs, there's no telling what will get pulled out. Heartbreakingly beautiful... clever... as well as laugh-out-loud funny songs. He draws the audience in with his stories and powerful music. He's clearly one of Alaska's best-kept secrets." - Trudy Heffernan, Acoustic Adventures Promotions
"Larry is a great songwriter, not only are his lyrics and melodies compelling, on top of that, he has something worthwhile to say." -Bill Staines
"Larry's recordings are immediately listenable. They are almost as good as seeing him live. This guy has a voice that is both powerful and sensitive, a sincere and engaging stage presence, and a strong, expressive guitar style. He writes from the heart about love, friendships, community, and humorous situations that pervade life in rural Alaska...."-Esther Golton, Whole Wheat Radio

It was an absolute honor to share the stage with you this weekend at the Nashua Folk Festival. Thanks for inviting me and the band to join you on that last song.
More importantly, all of us enjoyed your set and music. You have a knack for writing lyrics and delivering your songs in a very natural, almost conversational way. Your guitar work is also exceptional and complements your vocals nicely.
Super performance. Keep the spirit alive, my friend. You have something very special.
