Las Drogas is an Ypsilanti, Michigan garage rock band that fuses foot-stomping grizzled outlaw love songs and rogue ballads with raw and swampy rock to create a bare-bones, swaggering, surf-guitar, garage-a-billy blooze music style performed with supercharged yet-smooth punk energy. This existentialist music seems to file easiest under unique "bluesy primitive garage rock".
The band has always been fronted by vocalist and bariphonic guitarist KK Dirty Money (an Ypsi/Arbor rock personality that has been at the at the forefront of such bands as The 77s, Devil Elvis, ELECTROMAGS, Sin Embargo, The Stillhouse Six, and also currently plays bass guitar for Detroit power pop rock trio The Sunday Painters).
Las Drogas is made complete by the backing vocals and percussion of Chops (another pillar of the Ypsi music scene community, also known for his drumming for The Disregarded, Wound, and also the frontman for Devil Elvis).
Together, these two compadres bring an instantly likable sound that any fan of vintage rock n' roll will dig.
Las Drogas formed in 2003 and has since performed with such notable acts as: The Moaners, Don Rader, Dangerville, Living Blue, Tally Hall, The Voodoo Organist, Scotty Karate, Glori5, Reverend Vince Anderson and his Love Choir, The Beggars, Bible Of The Devil, Jim Roll, Dale Beavers, Dabenport, The Elevations, Jawbone, The Lanternjack, Lord Of The Yum Yum, Bill Parker & His Motherscratchers, Porchsleeper, The Questions, The Singles, Kate Starr, W-Vibe, and countless others...
