Influences
Laser Flames on the Great Big News has had the privilege to share the stage with: Rwake, Skeletonwich, Zoroaster, Weedeater, Look What I Did, Black Tusk, Kylesa, Fight Amp, Millions, Black Skies, Evil Bebos, Mouth of the Architect, Bloody Panda, Ascent of Everest, Ozenza and others.
Laser Flames on the Great Big News formed in early 2009 after the break-up of CHRISTINE (Stevie Bailey and John Judkins.) Previous to the break-up, Christine had released "Badasser" on Supernova Records to many positive reviews. After a tour with noise metal legends Today is the Day, John was asked to join that band as bassist for a 13 week US/Euro tour. When he returned home, Christine had ended, and John and Stevie, along with newcomer James Turk, started what would become Laser Flames on the Great Big News. With John and Stevie on guitar/vocals and James on drums, a new sound was forming, similar and yet distinct from Christine. James, already an amazing guitarist for Sumerian Recording artist Enfold Darkness, brought a very stylistic swagger to the drum kit that bred a fountain riffs from John and Stevie's fingertips. After months of rehearsal/writing, the band brought Brian Myers, long-time friend/band mate of John's, into the mix for bass duties. This addition added a powerful connection for the group, as each member is primarily a guitarist, and all have been friends since childhood.
Soon after, Laser Flames began their demo process with Jason Dietz, who had previously recorded "Badasser." During the recording, Laser Flames continued playing shows with peers Rwake, Kylesa, Skeleton Witch, Weedeater, Zoroaster and many more.
These shows solidified their place in the Nashville/Southern metal circuit and allowed them to grow tighter as a live unit.
Laser Flames on the Great Big News has a self-released e.p. "Like That To It," available for free at shows or through myspace.
"Laser Flames on the Great Big News features members of an amazingly diverse roster of bands including CHRISTINE, ENFOLD DARKNESS, and TODAY IS THE DAY. Unexplainable mix of doom/country/rock with soaring vocals and a huge wall of guitar sound. Best new band I have heard in years." - Michael, www.riseformstudio.tv

"Call it classically minded rock/metal with a forward thinking agenda and an unpredictable split personality."

"Laser Flames on the Great Big News are another metal-inspired band that defy genre conventions without making too big a point about it. With guitarists Stevie Bailey and John Judkins belt out clean and harmonizing vocal lines when Judkins isn’t growling, while the band often shifts into country and blues moments without sounding cheesy."

I was wondering how I could go about picking up your EP. I have been an avid listener of Christine ever since I saw them(some of you) in Chicago open up for Today is the Day...I must admit that I use serveral of Chrisitine's songs for motivation during workouts: Bones being a fav :-) The stylings and creative originality of your riffs always impress me...keep up the great work.
