About Laslo Cameo

Leslie Campos and Randy Bulpin formed Laslo Cameo 2003. With individual extensive experience touring and in the studio and expressing their desire to play groove-oriented and roots based material, the band was quickly established. They began with regular shows at the Bees Knees in northern Vermont, an oasis of original and roots music, and have established themselves as a drawcard at some of New England’s favorite nightspots. An 11 track studio CD, ‘Second Avenue Serenade’ is being released through independent labels such as Zoomoozik that support artist ownership and mutual integrity.

Leslie Campos (fiddle, acoustic guitar, vocals) moved to Vermont from New York City where she had a successful career playing fiddle in a variety of bands including an all girl bluegrass/ country act called the Bushmills, and the Scott McClatchy Band with consistent CD sales in European markets. Leslie’s beautiful and sultry singing voice is an integral part of the Laslo Cameo sound and her own songwriting abilities can be heard in the album’s title track “Second Avenue Serenade”, a haunting jazz/blues tribute to life in New York City..

Randy Bulpin (guitars, dobro, vocals) moved to the USA from Australia where he spent his time as a touring and session musician and songwriter, often sharing the stage with eminent international artists. He continues to write and original songs are a feature of the Laslo Cameo night. Listen for the songs “How Can You Lose?”, a collaboration with fellow band member Leslie, “Stella Joy” and “When my Baby”, to name but a few. Randy’s extensive studio experience has served him well as co-producer of their debut CD, and in production and recording projects with other artists..

'Second Avenue Serenade’ features not only the songwriting, vocal and instrumental skills of Laslo Cameo, but also performances by skilled musicians and artists in the New England area. These include Russ Lawton on drums and Jen Hartswick on trumpet and backing vocals from the Trey Anastasio band, Chuck Eller whose Hammond B3 skills were intrinsic to the sound of Big Joe Burrell and Kilimanjaro, Terry Diers and Sandra Wright on backing vocals, Ted Donlon (founder of the legendary Greensboro Blues Jam) and the celebrated Mark LeGrand on bass, Ira Friedman, keyboards and Micah Carboneau, fretless and acoustic basses, from Vermont’s own ‘Viscus’. The album is expected for release in early March with CD release shows beginning later that month. Please enjoy the promotional tracks posted here and please feel free to add any of our songs to your MySpace page!

Hey, I owe you an apology. Due to myspace technical difficulties, the song we featured on the radio (House Trained Man) was only playable on my site for maybe on or two days.. So if you have another song, we can try again in a couple of weeks. It was a hit on the radio.. :)
Thanks, Jess

RadioIndy Reviews: "Second Avenue Serenade" by Laslo Cameo is an enjoyable Americana CD. The music on this CD is tight with very professional musicianship throughout. The alternating male and female leads on the tracks keep the songs on the CD sounding fresh, as does the varied styles from modern country, to blues, to adult rock. The clean recording quality is totally pro and very well-suited for this genre. "How Can You Lose" is a solid track featuring Leslie's clean, pitch-perfect vocal style, with a memorable chorus that includes a nice keyboard/organ countermelody. "Stella Joy" is a soulful bluesy tune with a cool opening acoustic guitar lick and effective use of tremolo electric guitar to back up Randy's raspy vocals, which work well in this bluesy style. If you enjoy blues-infused rock, you'll enjoy this CD by these talented artists.
