Being a musician in a band, there are two things I really don't like doing. One is taking press photos (really any photo shoot). And the other is writing a bio. Well, I had to write a new bio, so here it is...
I started Last Conservative. Made my first record, "Unremarkable" in 1999. Got some attention. Played some cool shows around Buffalo. Made my second record, "These In-Between Times" in 2002. One of the songs, "Out of Nowhere", got a lot of radio play. Started to establish myself as a songwriter (with help from our producer, Armand John Petri who worked with the Goo Goo Dolls and 10,000 Maniacs among others). Played some bigger shows. People started to listen. Started touring. Got some airplay around the US. Lineup change. Met Robby Takac from the Goo Goo Dolls and signed with his label, Good Charamel Records. Recorded my third record "On to the Next One" (produced by Robby). Lots of guitars and a few hooks thrown in for good measure. Some cool things started to happen (featured on MTV's Advanced Warning, opened for Bon Jovi, played shows at over 100 high schools around the northeast, won XM Radio's 2005 Best Unsigned Band, toured all across the US). Lineup change (rock and roll isn't easy). Recorded our latest album, "Pretty New Things" which came out in 2006 to rave reviews. Toured with Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls, Augustana, The All American Rejects and Boys Like Girls. Played the coolest clubs packed with fans and the smallest dives to no one. Lowest low to highest high. Saw all four corners of the country. Oftentimes sober. Lineup change.
And now, here I am. Writing better than I've ever written before. Finding my voice and the right words. Making music I truly believe in. Settling into my skin. Working working working. Songs about faith and love, joy and anger, comfort and chaos. New music coming very soon.

Please mark your calendar and come out to Quote nightclub on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7TH @ 10PM to support me in bartending. It's my first night back on the horse in over 2 years, and they need to see me bring in a good amount of people to decide if they're going to keep me. And I REALLY need this! Besides, if you and all our friends come out and monopolize the bar, we're guaranteed a great night, right?!
Sending you some love from Utica, NY! Have fun and keep up the great work. Visit our site for more info and early bird band submissions. Have a great day!

An early morning fire Sunday morning has taken the lives of 2 beautiful children. Brothers Dawson (10) and Clayton (3) Mckinnon were killed in a tragic house fire at their home at Water St. in Fredonia NY. Their older brother and mother jumped to safety from a 3 story window while the father(Michael) barely escaped from below. The house and all of their belongings were completely destroyed. Jennifer Mckinnon is in ECMC after being badly burned and suffering from a collapsed lung.
I am part of a committee planning a fundraiser to help out Michael and his family in this time of dire need. A night with food, music, drinks and some healing is planned for Dec 6th. We are looking at starting the event at noon and running it till they kick us out. The idea is to have some non stop entertainment and a Chinese auction of donated goods. Any bands who would like to pitch in and either perform or donate some CD's, T Shirts etc...would be greatly appreciated. We are implementing a diverse line up of artists and bands in hope of offering something for everyone. I have already been in contact with a few bands and they have graciously agreed to participate. To those of my music friends seperated by distance any contribution of memorabilia would be awesome. Auctions at the event can lead to some much needed financial support. One gift basket I have an idea for is to be filled with bands CD's. Send me your CD's, expose yourself to some potential new fans and go to sleep at night knowing you did some good for some people who really need it.
For those of you with the heart to make a financial contribution you can send any donation to : Mckinnon Family Fund c/o Lake Shore Savings Bank 128 E 4th St. Dunkirk NY 14048
If you can help in any way please contact me here.
Count your blessings, Cleave to those you love and please help if you can.
The planets will align this Friday when the likes of Chylde, The Suede Brothers (Cleveland), Nick Gordon, & The Finale (Keith Buckley’s new band from Every Time I Die) come together to slay all of which you knew of music, life and happiness. The festivities begin at 9pm and you get all of this for a mere 5 dollars (US currency). We will be playing a couple of our new songs and will have demos to hand out to show our gratitude of your presence. Good ol’ fashioned warmth in a glass will be of abundance. Hurry before the tundra forms and you get trapped indoors forever.
Knee Cheese (Nietzche’s) on Allen, the center of everywhere. 9pm
