LAST FALLING Last Falling is Bryan Ferguson. A musical band, now studio project, Ferguson has been responsible for three albums: Fuel, In Loving Memory, and Broken Windows and Shooting Pains. There have also been a handful of self-produced EPs released under various band names dating back to 1998. All albums and EPs are available for free via the Last Falling Podcast on iTunes. All tracks are written, recorded, and produced by Bryan Ferguson.
OK TO DISCONNECT OK To Disconnect is a FREE, real-time, digital album with the sole intent to be a personal challenge of quantity over quality. It is referred to as an ambitious music project with specific goals; to write, record, and produce one song a week for a predetermined length of time that is documented with audio/visual evidence.
OKTD has been developed with a psychological theory in mind to raise awareness of today's society emerging deep into connectivity through technology and equally disconnecting emotionally and socially.
The project is mechanically translated as a digital departure from an old business model governed by record labels and the RIAA who have control over the distribution and ownership of music. It is the belief of LF that the future of songs should be available to be shared publically and freely.
MISSION
Last Falling has developed a unique subscription model known for weekly releases of a song for a predetermined length of time. Each track is paired with a corresponding video of evidence for 36 documented hours of creative time devoted per song. Tracks may begin from scratch while others may be preexisting ideas that have not yet been developed or completed. Quality is not guaranteed to be totally awesome nor are the songs determined to be bitchen singles. Songs will range from a variety of moods to genre styles.
Recording will begin January 5th, 2010.
Track 02 will be released January 12th, 2010.
Simply put, you get what you get. If you like it: right on, support the effort of Last Falling and buy something. If you think it's complete bullocks: first of all it's free, and I genuinely invite you to try this on your own.
BACKLOG
While the idea to release a song a day or week isn't new, what is unique about OKTD is that it is not a simple singer/songwriter project. You will hear very similar songs to What You Wanted as if it were a full band recording every single part in a large studio. There are no expensive sound boards, no racks filled with rockin' compressors or effect units, no producer arranging the tracks, no mastering company blowing up the sound... just me and my low budget means to bring creative ideas to the public surface. You get the real deal. From my brain to your ears. Created in a small room with two computers and a few toys.
MECHANICAL OPERATION
Each track will be created and/or finished in real time within a one week period. Hours of operation will be posted on each page in the menu bar (where the recording sign is) as well as directly in the feeds on lastfalling.tv where you have the ability to see and hear the progress. The recording will be lit when recording is in progress.
Each track will be broadcasted with four different formats: official lastfalling.com low quality streaming MP3 player with the download link, one HI Resolution torrent link, iTunes audio podcast, and YouTube videos with the finished track playing over a timelapse video of the 36 hours captured working on the corresponding song. Live video feed is available at lastfalling.tv.
