"Bastard Melvins' progeny" is probably a sufficient three-word encapsulation of Last of the Juanitas' turgid, lumbering pace, if the opener is any indication. That the trio follows up this five-minute metal trudge with fiery angular bursts of post-punk and heavy psychedelic onslaughts betray the breadth of their record collections. Eclecticism on its own doesn't imply innovation or even necessarily generate interest, but these folks have that covered. The rhythm section of Lana Rebel and John Schier reach nearly Albini-level ferociousness throughout the band's tour of rock extremes, which helps bind everything together into a pummelled mass for Maurice Byran Giles' nervy guitar to thread through. More often than not, vocals are left off tracks, letting the psychosis of haphazard time signature changes and atonal riffage to speak for itself. The result is an unkillable monster whose lifespan is a perfectly short half-hour. Let's send these guys to go kill Nickelback, please. --Ink 19 review of 'In the Dirt'
started in san diego around '96. moved to portland '99 ish. put out 1 split lp, 2 7"s and 4 lps. damn good times, lots of tours. broke up '04. thanks to everybody who cares. latest and last cd(featuring david sullivan of shiny beast/ red fang) available through wantageusa. hell yeah.
This is a mass sending to my friends in or near the Portland area. If you don't want to get any more updates on totally killer shows that anyone in their right mind would miss their mother's birthday to attend... well, too bad. :)

One of the John's from Hose.Got.Cable said you guys sounded like a band from Richmond, VA. From the math-rockin' 90's. That's probably why I took to yall so, after seeing you play with Rah Bras.
Yall might like Hex Machine, a newish great band from RVA. They'll soon record at Louder.
BLACK SUNDAY / LE JONATHAN REILLY "Something To Tell You" SPLIT 12-INCH The record features 5 new tracks from each Black Sunday (Alicja Trout band- Lost sounds, River City Tainlines,Destruction unit…) and Le Jonathan Reilly, all seriously killers in their own right, and is pretty exceptionally diverse in terms of new stuff (on the Black Sunday side). Plus 5 new first-wave-esque-garagepunk charges from Le Jonathan Reilly (think The Rats, Swell Maps). All this yeah, but what spaced out, weirdo rock record would be complete without metallic inks and funky packaging?!! So it's basically all ready for your next acid trip where you'll be falling into black holes in the bathroom mirror while listening to it in the background. FREE DOWNLOAD COUPON INSIDE RECORD!
