I love music. I play piano but not lately. (I need more refresher lessons. I was working on jazzy bluesy stuff before. It keeps calling to me)
People ask me who I am listening to:
Cary Brothers (yes his EP and I bought it.)
Jim Bianco (ditto.. and it's just like him as a person. Look out for the three podcasts
Sara Barielles
AM.. I have both ep and cd and love them. Love the new stuff he just did at Hotel Cafe. Look out for the blog on that.
Keaton Simons------ amazing. All I can say is I love what he does with lyrics.. and his voice.
James Morrison.. Only heard 4 tunes.. I love the feel of the blue-eyed soul (though I don't think he has blue eyes)..
Michelle and the Midnight Blues. Whoever said White Girls Can't Sing the blues? SHE CAN -- and I connect with her music
Fall Out Boys (why them? Because despite the rock & roll, they are very intelligent in their lyrics. I don't know if they have lived those type of events, but I certainly have. OMG.. I find them just plain fun yet so in touch with what's gone on in my life),
Rachael Yamagata
Chemical Brothers
Joshua Radin,
Josh Groban--select songs only. I understand some songs in other languages so I listen to those and there are about 3-4 key songs that I listen to
The American Rag Store Series --YUM-- love the samba
Houston Person (thank you JB for that rec),
Jane Monheit,
More of the Hotel Cafe Crowd but I have to buy more CDs,
Want a great place to go to hear music? Check out the Hotel Cafe. Not at all what you would expect but a very cool place. LOVED it.!!
Love salsa, Latin music. Anything that makes me move.. I like some of Shakira and other kinds of music.
If you see me out and about -- I will be the one moving around-- even if I am sitting down.
I love to dance. Been into dance music-- anything that makes me move and there's a lot of that out there right now-- but it has to have a certain groove.
Also I love intelligent lyrics-- songs that actually make some sense.
I love jazzy threads and I love classical piano.
The experience of great new music for me is akin to surfing (catching a humongous wave and riding it in) or doing something new for the first time and doing it right. It's an emotional rush along with the physical that pierces your very soul.
I have very eclectic tastes and I make sure that I have a great variety of music cds in my car.. from BIG & RICH to all of the above.
So sue me.. |
