September 2005 was the month when 2 friends (Vinnie & Strwase) decided to give something back to the love that influenced their lifes in a way most people will never understand: hardcore.
We made some calls and soon Burhan (guitar) and Frits (drumz) joined our ranks. We started to drink some beer, and we managed to write some songs…but we were still looking for a bassplayer. Six months later, Maikel “The flying Dutchman” joined our family. But things didn't worked out as they should and Stevo replaced Maikel.
Our songs developed and grew towards a style we call “citécore”; we all live in "cités", some typical hoods just out of the heart of Genk. (Winterslag-Waterschei-Zwartberg- Genk Stad) . That way of living is enclosed in our music and lyrics. You can described it as a mix between NYHC & hardcore streetpunk combined with a pissed off throat.
We played our first show (09/12/06) at Rockcafé Highway, in our hometown, with Violation 13 and we had a fuckin' blast! The critics were amazing, the crowd liked our style.
So now, LaStrada is on it's way, representin' da Genkstyle and bringing you an energetic set with honest lyrics, straight up your face.
We released a demo and some merch on the 25th of august, and the 15th of september was the highlight for LaStrada. We got to play with our heroes from SICK OF IT ALL, and Vinnie featured SOIA and did the vocals on ratpack.
Our demo's are nearly sold out, we're taking some time to write some new stuff, but we still do shows!So give us a call or drop us a line, we play anywhere! Dancin' is way more fun than the gym and you can have some drinks too while movin'!
