Greatly influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, guitarist Denis Chang's formative years were spent alongside the greatest jazz manouche guitarists such as Fapy Lafertin, Ritary Gaguenetti, Paulus Schäfer, Rindo Winterstein and Emmanuel Kassimo to name just these few. This young guitarist quickly developed his own style inspired by various styles of music but most notably by jazz/RnB and classical music.
He has notably produced tours for the cream of the crop such as Stochelo Rosenberg (2009) Lollo Meier (2006,2008), Emmanuel Kassimo (2007), Andreas Oberg (2007), Ritary Gaguenetti (2006), Wawau Adler (2008), Tim Kliphuis (2007, 2008) and Chriss Campion (2006). During these tours, he also often organized workshops which allowed music students to take advantage of the presence of such great musicians.
In Montreal, he performs regularly in the two most important jazz clubs: the Dièse Onze and the Upstairs.
To date, he has performed in the most important cities in the USA (Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Boston, Portland), France (Paris, Toulouse), UK, Japan and Belgium.
As a teacher, he is very sollicited; being regularly invited to give masterclasses around the world since 2004. Practically every performing jazz manouche musician in Quebec has benefited from his teaching. He has even attracted private students from as far as California, Vermont, UK and South America!
His instructional DVDs are a success all over the world. Among the clients, are the legendary guitarist of the Shadows, Hank Marvin, and the guitar virtuoso Adrian Vandenberg of Whistesnake fame.
In 2008, he had the honor of being invited to perform with the legendary Les Paul at the Iridium in New York.

Guitariste fortement inspiré par la musique de Django Reinhardt, Denis Chang a fait sa formation en côtoyant les plus grands guitaristes manouches dont Fapy Lafertin, Ritary Gaguenetti, Paulus Schäfer, Rindo Winterstein et Emmanuel Kassimo pour ne nommer que ceux-là. Ce jeune guitariste a vite développé son propre style inspiré de toutes les grandes musiques, mais notamment du jazz/RnB et de la musique classique.
Sur la scène québécoise, il a notamment produit plusieurs tournées pour les plus grands musiciens de jazz manouche dont Stochelo Rosenberg (2009), Lollo Meier (2006, 2008), Emmanuel Kassimo (2007), Ritary Gaguenetti (2006), Chriss Campion (2006), Wawau Adler (2008), Tim Kliphuis (2007, 2008) et Andreas Öberg (2007). Des workshops ont souvent été organisés lors de ces tournées, et c’est ainsi que plusieurs étudiants du jazz manouche ont pu profiter de la présence de ces grands musiciens.

A date, il s’est produit dans les plus grandes villes des Etats-Unis (Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Boston, Portland), France (Paris, Toulouse), Angleterre, Japon et Belgique.
En tant que pédagogue, il est très sollicité; étant régulièrement invité à donner des masterclasses partout dans le monde depuis 2004. Pratiquement tous les plus guitaristes de jazz manouche au Québec ont profité de son enseignement. Il attire même des élèves privés de la Californie, du Vermont, de l’Angleterre, de l’Ontario et de l’Amérique latine!
Ses DVDs pédagogiques sont un énorme succès. On retrouve parmi ses clients, le légendaire guitariste des Shadows Hank Marvin, et le virtuose de la guitare Adrian Vandenberg du groupe Whitesnake.
