National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health's Blurbs
About me:
The mission of NLIRH is to ensure the fundamental human right to reproductive health and justice for Latinas, their families and their communities through research, public education, policy advocacy, and community mobilization.

Research: As the leading Latina organization dedicated to ensuring reproductive justice, NLIRH strongly believes that a reproductive justice platform must be informed by the experiences of women at the grassroots level. Therefore, we engage and educate Latino communities through community based participatory action research (CBPR) and training. Our CBPR and other Latina-led research on the reproductive health status of Latinas directly shapes and advances reproductive justice policy advocacy and connects grassroots activists with effective tools for movement and leadership building.

Policy and Advocacy: NLIRH is committed to advancing the reproductive health and rights of Latinas at the national and state level through legislative action, public education, and collaboration with coalition partners and community members. Our National Latina Agenda for Reproductive Justice is framed around the following priority issues for Latinas: access to affordable healthcare, culturally and linguistically competent health care services, family planning and contraceptive equity, comprehensive sexuality education, reproductive rights, and accurate and unbiased research on the health status of Latinas.

Community Mobilization: In order to achieve policy changes that improve the reproductive health status of Latinas, NLIRH must build, through our community mobilization program, a diverse constituency base with the knowledge and capacity to mobilize quickly and influence NLIRH policy. Through our community mobilization program, NLIRH seeks to increase Latina visibility, cultivate well informed leaders and build regional networks of activists that will inform and support our National Policy Agenda.

Public Education: As the leading Latina organization dedicated to ensuring reproductive justice, NLIRH strongly believes in strengthening Latina communities through information and education on the full range of reproductive health options. We publish a series of fact sheets and issue briefs which address topics ranging from Latinas and Abortion Access to The Reproductive Health Status of Latinas. Our biannual newsletter, Instantes, is published bilingually and includes highlights from Latina activists across the country, analysis on pressing reproductive health issues and NLIRH events and campaigns. Our website, is the primary hub for Latina activists and allies across the world to access our publications, sign up to join Latina Advocacy Networks and take action on our many advocacy efforts.

For more information, please visit our website!

National Day of Support of Abortion Providers
http://www.refuseandresist.org/ab/index.html

On this day -
Stand up with your abortion services providers and say:
Thank you for your heroism, perserverance, courage, and commitment to women.

* Praise clinic staff and doctors with cards and letters of appreciation. Let them know they have your support and thanks.
* Bring your local clinic staff flowers or a breakfast basket of fruit or muffins.
* Organize local appreciation day events.
* Organize with others to hold a March 10th dinner with area providers.
* Step up to the front lines and be a volunteer clinic escort.
* Ask your local provider how you can help.
* Write your local newspaper, call talk shows to express support.
* Take out ads in your newsletters and local newspapers.
* Use your imagination, creativity and dedication to help create a climate at clinics where women, doctors and staff can hold their heads high without feeling shamed or fearing assault.

The National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers was initiated in 1996 and co-sponsored by many national organizations and individuals, as a way to help stop the isolation and create a positive climate for abortion providers across the country. March 10th is the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. David Gunn, the first provider murdered by an anti-abortion extremist. It is a day to remember and honor Dr. Gunn and others who have and continue to put their lives on the line daily to make choice possible. Without abortion providers, there can be no "choice." And without choice women cannot be free to live and plan their lives!

In the shadow of the first federal ban on an abortion procedure and the criminalization of doctors who perform this service for women in need, and with the subsequent federal subpoenas of patient records, it is especially important right now to let providers know we stand with them.

We've now had 5 years of lies about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The real reasons were oil, profiteering, and fascism. Not just Bush, but the news media, most of congress, and all who remain silent. And now they'll use fear to quash dissent. It's nothing new -- it's been going on for ages. War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric

If you read my story on myspace you will see that I am fighting a great battle, a lot of people have written to tell me that I am strong :) I learned all that courage from growing up in the big easy, i spent a lot of time in the Quarter and learned tuffness and street smarts there (not fighting!)

I would like to invite you to take a look at my renovated website:

www.loveswhosheis.com

I have had this website for about 10 years but I am doing some work to update the layout. Any feedback you have I would greatly appreciate! I have tried to invite friends on myspace to join me on another networking site that pays you to do the same thing that you do on myspace. But myspace is blocking links to that site because of the competition I guess? You can find that info on my site

www.loveswhosheis.com

Thanks for being my friend!

Merci !
Hi,
Thanks for the add,
I am a French politician who lives with HIV/AIDS.
I was the first French politician – and also the only one so far – to acknowledge publicly my seropositivity, which was discovered in 1987.
In France, I am the chairman of a society with 13.000 French politicians of all parties (ELCS, soon on myspace). I support UNITAID.
One of our fight is to obtain that USA change their acts/laws which forbid people living with HIV/AIDS to enter in your country.
I know all you do against AIDS and we need you for this fight against discriminations.
I have just created my "myspace" to promote this international fight and
I need you to mobilise in USA!
Best wishes.
