In 1979, Donnelly received a Major music Scholarship to Fort Hays State University in Kansas where he majored in music performance. In the fall of 1983, after placing 2nd out of 134 Drummers in a talent contest in Kansas City, Donnelly loaded up his truck and headed to New York to follow his dream. He spent the next 3 years playing the clubs of New York and honing his craft. Eventually, Donnelly began to acquire recording equipment to write and record commercial jingles. Laughing Dog Productions was born. With many jingles airing in the Midwest as well as several in NY, Donnelly began focusing his talents and that of the Laughing Dog Productions’ staff on music and making records. With the popularity of Hip-Hop, Laughing Dog Studios became a “breeding ground” for artist such as Wu-Tang Klan, Blahzay Blahzay (recording their hit “Danger”), Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, Inspecta Deck, Cappadonna, Mob Deep, Masta Killa, King Just, Raekwon’s “The Lex Diamond Story” for Universal, and most recently recording Ghostface Killah's "Slept on Tony with Dirt" for the Iron Man Soundtrack. Now in it’s 22nd year, Laughing Dog Studios makes records in all styles from Jazz to Hip-Hop, Rock to Blue Grass, Blues to Dance music. Laughing Dog continues to grow and thrive as an outstanding film mix/music recording facility.
